It just depends on what you're going to do with the tractor and what kind of terrain you'll be doing it in. It can be the equivalent of about 25% more power than a 2WD of the same size, it won't get stuck quite as easily and have to be pulled out and it's a help with a front end loader, so to me, it's important; might not be for your uses.

Terrain will play a big factor in 4WD . With any loads in the FEL , going down even a small incline , or rough terrain, you can get one of the rear wheels light enough to lose traction or you could get wheel hop.

I mow a 5 acer field that in on a incline.

I have had the rear wheel come up enough to loose traction using the finnish mower. That was with no FEL.

I am always in 4WD when I am mowing or in the woods.

With no brakes on the front wheels and you could find yourself changing your underware a lot.

Go with 4WD if you can afford it .
