If gasoline prices should go to even $5 per gallon wouldn't there be a LOTTT of pressure to develop domestic sources?

Just the opposite actually. There are many forces at work by big govt., greenies, carbon taxes, etc. that want nothing but high fuel prices to further their agenda. Hard to make a case for windpower, electric vehicles, etc. at "only" $5 per gallon. Energy needs to cost two or three times that. Also, don't forget, the more fuel costs, the more revenue the govt. gets from us. Were driving less, so fuel better cost more if tax revenue is to remain unchanged.

The thing confuses me is the little small village gas station close to me sells fuel cheaper than anywhere else within reason. Sometimes 20 cents cheaper than stations in a city with 13,000 people. You would think it would be the other way around.

Diesel last night was $3.95 here. I still would like to know how the gas and oil companies can do this to us and get away with it! I still say it's time for the dairy farmers to triple the milk prices and the crop farmers to double or triple thier prices!:thumbsup:

I suspect the recent uptick in prices have more to do with speculators than the oil companies themselves.

Half the people wouldn't be able to drive this car and the other half wouldn't want to.

The half that didn't know how would learn quick and the other half that didn't like it will change their minds as the cost goes up.

We have it tough here in the US. I just spent 10 days in Ecuador doing some Missions work. They all drive smaller vehicles due to the lower income levels. Cars are pretty expensive. Lot's and lots of Chevy and Hyundais there. I would love to pay what they are paying for fuel though. $1.03 a gallon for diesel. $1.48 for mid grade and $2.08 for premium. They all drive like lunatics there at least for what I am used to.
