3 cyl 2000 Rear differential swap

I have a mid 60's 2000 3 cyl gas 4spd with no diff lock or live PTO. Basically a base model as far as I can tell. Someone in my area is selling a complete differential and I'd like to know if it would bolt up and be a direct swap in my tractor. I imagine the live PTO function is based on the transmission, but if I could gain diff lock, external hydraulics, and maybe a higher gear ratio (slow the tractor down) I may consider it.

It will bolt up but the PTO driveline probably won’t match up. You have a transmission PTO and the donor probably has IPTO.

What would need to be done to gain ITPO? A different transmission I presume? and probably all the associated linkage?

Is the gear ratio in this diff different than mine? Or impossible to tell by the limited info?

why not just get a different tractor.lots of older used ones available.

The price is good, and includes good tires. If it's not a viable swap option then I'm not going to pursue it. Just wanted to know what my options were.

#1 you need a live driveshaft from the crankshaft to the IPTO clutch. You do not have that, and will not without the transmission and flywheel that goes with that donor rear end.
#2 you need the PTO clutch input in the donor rear end (if it is even there) to mate up to the shaft referenced in #1 above.

Long story short, your dream is just that. The wheel lug bolt circle and pilot diameter are not a match either.
