Has Ford introduced a 100,000 mi warranty for that engine like Cummins did? I reaaly don't keep up with that stuff, but that's what I base my opinion on, no brand loyalty here.

I don't recall any tractor with either of those engines. I've wrenched on my share of those 34 and 35 series and they have their place. I think the 36 series is a better design.
The V8 dsl in tractors were fuel hogs and prone to early overhauls compared to I6 and generally disliked by owners. I remember the IH68 series only made around 150hp out 550ci. The Perkins was a bit better put together, but still hard on fuel.
I don't keep up with newer high hp tractor models either, but I believe V8s were discontinued. Anyone knows different, chime in.
