How many horses for this mower? :D

10? I'm dating myself, but when I was growing up, my Dad and some neighbors modified the tongues of these horse/mule-drawn mowers to pull behind their tractors. I've spent more than a few hours on one while my Dad pulled it with an AC G tractor. I don't recall the G (10 HP) ever bogging down.

Our first mower had iron wheels -- I remember being happy when he replaced it with one equipped with rubber tires.

I wish I had that G back, it was a quite a little tractor.

As shown in the pic it is set up for a team ( 2 HP).

I too spent plenty of time riding the steel wheel mower behind an H Deere, stepping on the foot pedal to raise the bar, along with the lever adjustments. Good memories. :)

It's a fond memory for me too, after 50+ years. I not sure it would be so fond if it was fresher in my mind.:)

Maybe not so fond. I used one of those behind a A Farmall for a while. I think it was a McCormick? Tried to run it (like everything else) by myself, kind of a comedy. Learned about sickle mowers that way, just didn't cut much grass.

This one is on display at cades cove in the smoky mountains. I didn't get a picture of the large cab kubota sitting in one of the fields.

My grandfather farmed with horses. His land was too steep for a tractor.
