NH TT50A with rear remotes added
Well I have it narrowed down to the TT50 or TT60 but just curious on the difference in engines. Anyone give any input to the 3 or 4 cyl engines? TT50 has 4 cyl and TT60 has 3 cyl. Got a good price on the TT50 so we are leaning towards that. Going tonight to do test ride and if all goes good sign papers.

Thanks,

There is lot more to compare than the number of cylinders. I like the TT60A because it has:

more power
16.4 gallon fuel tank
300 hr oil changes
higher hyd press - 2700
higher hyd flow - 10.6
higher 3 ph lift - 2900
lower pto rpm - 1967
can have 4wd

In my book, the TT60A is far more versatile. I'd buy the TT50A for a specific job, but I'd buy the TT60A for general utility and much more flexible work.

Jinman is leading you straight. # of cyls is way down onthe importance list.. like around paint color...

You just buying to have a general purpose tractor.. or do you have a specific application in mind.

generally we like to say to buy as much tractor as you can get.. but no too big so that you can't use it. Also.. plan your tractor purchase for 80% of your work. If you have 1-2 odd jobs that need a bulldozer or excavator.. rent one, and then buy the size tractor that is better suited for the rest of the work.

post back with some details.

Sorry I should have explained my question better. We are looking at the TT50 and 60. 90% of the tractor use is going to be pulling 6' bush hog (maybe 7' if I can get good price) It will also be used for pulling the 7' haybine and small baler (NH 69). I feel the TT50 is the right tractor and can't see the $2000.00 price diference quoted for the 60. I was just curious on why the TT60 was using the 3 cyl engine and all the other TT were using the 4 cyl.

Thanks,

Just from my own experience in owning several toys over the years; I always ended up getting something too small or less horsepower, only to trade up in the end.

Case in point:

90 cc motorcycle not big enough, had to go with a 175 cc, then a 250 cc

150 hp Piper Cherokee wasn't enough to haul 4 people with full tanks, nor was it fast enough. Traded up to a Piper Archer with 180 hp which could easily haul 4 people and was another 15 - 20 mph faster.

When I bought my NH TN65; I passed on a TC33. Glad I did!!!

The TT60 is a bigger frame as well, I looked at both these 4 months ago and drove both the 60 would have been my choice, but I needed a smaller frame tractor. (my needs are much different) Drive both, but the TT50 I looked at would have problems with the draw bar housing getting in the way of smaller cat 1 implements. (31" or smaller between lift points) For # of cyl that would be last as the other comrades said.:) CLay

The TT50A uses the Shibaura 4 cyl. from the TC 48/55/60 compact series. The TT60A uses the same engine as the TN60A utility tractor. Get the 60, it will be well worth the extra $ in the long run. 179 cid. vs. 135, I would anticipate better torque numbers, better fuel economy due to not having to push the engine as hard, it has 8 more engine HP (56 vs. 48), 5 more PTO HP (47 vs. 42).

Just ran across a print ad for my local NH dealer in the Roanoke, VA area (Boone Tractor). TT45A $12,000, TT50A $13,500, TT60A $14,400, TT75A $16,000, TT60A 4wd$18,500, TT75A 4wd $20,100, TD80D Cab, AC, 4wd $31,000.

I just happen to have both the 4 cylinder engine you are looking at in my 2120 and the 3 cylinder in my TN75D. Both run fine.

For only $2,000 difference I would get the TT60
