3 point backhoe

I have a Kelley #30 3 point backhoe. It is hyd driven ( I plan to switch to PTO driven in the future). I am currently running it on an older IH. I am shopping for a JD 4520 or 4720. I will be getting one with a rear hyd outlet. Has anyone run a hyd driven backhoe on one of these tractors? Do you just strap the hyd lever back to run to keep the hydraulics on for the backhoe? With the JD being an open center system I wouldn't think it would hurt anything - any thoughts on this? I know of guys that run hyd driven vacuum planters with the JD's, they strap back the hyd lever, and run all day long. Are there issues with heating things up? For reference, this backhoe would have a 9gpm pto pump and 7 gallon reservoir from factory. I only use the backhoe for small occasional projects.

I didn't want to get a nice tractor and mess anything up.

If you don't need the 3pt while using the BH, do this.

Make yourself a plugin for the BH using the pressure hose to the 3pt.

Remove the IN hose to the 3pt and install a female QD.

Install a male QD on the 3pt port.

When using BH, disconnect the 3pt QD and plug the BH male QD into the female QD. No lever to maintain.

Or just get "power beyond" circuit for the back hoe.

That is what post #2 is about.

PB is just a continuation of the flow to downstream circuits.

All valve must be able to handle the pumps pressure.

Yes they are the same but the John Deere power beyond kits are hard lines that are ready to install and usually include an inline screened filter. No fabrication necessary.
