3-Point Ballast Weight to offset Front Loader

/ 3-Point Ballast Weight to offset Front Loader #11
California; Just got back in town, and it looks like you guys have come up with a couple ideas. I was clearing out an old saw mill using my rake. Only weighs probably a couple 100#. I usually have the boxblade on for ballast, about 500#. Well, anyway, I dug out one of the old concrete footers for the mill. It was so heavy I could only curl it into the loader. Wa, wa, waho!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif When I slowed to dump it, the rear tires left the ground. I'm glad I only had the bucket maybe 6" off the ground. The moral, or morale is, I'm going to build a counter weight and plan on using some of these ideas myself.

Yes, pictures will be forthcoming, how about the rest of you guys. Is this the project to take the place of the grapples and toothbars? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 3pt weight that can swing can more than scare you. My brother had one on his 12hp Kubota. His front blade hooked on something and the weight swung. The back of the tractor stopped the swing, but at the cost of busting the transmission casting just behind the clutch!
