3 Point drops then raises while running

I saw a question in a post on this site today and was wondering what makes the 3 point hitch do this. I have a 871 Ford and when I have a heavy attachment on the hitch I can see it drop an inch or so then pull right back up?

If you have "draft" enabled it will do that. Draft is a means where the implement will stay realatively the same height with ground engaging equipment. Useful when the ground is uneven and the tractor is pitching forward and back following the ground. Draft will compensate for this and keep the implement at the same depth.

Nothing to do with draft, the 3 point position control maintains the hitch in position. It drops because of leakage in the lift piston and the position control valve just returns it to where it is set to.

Most older tractors have a little to a lot of leakage in the lift piston. It can be annoying in a single pump system, once it gets to running all the pump output to the hitch to make it hold position lol. The heavier the load, the higher the pressure in the cylinder, quicker it leaks down making it cycle faster.

New seals should fix you right up if it bothers you.

My 871 fords power steering belt broke this morning and tore itself up. Does any one have a part number for a replacement belt?
