Here are a few of the pics I was able to get today. Camera was not cooperating with uploading to the computer so it took a bit to get er done..View attachment 582433View attachment 582434View attachment 582435View attachment 582436

If you know a good welder he can fix that with nickle rod. "V" out all sides and let him weld it back together. Make sure the holes are lined up properly before welding. You could use washers in between the two parts for spacers. Put a bolt and nut on it to keep it from moving while being welded.

After all is said and done, my opinion is you'll be better off buying a new part, especially since the part is around $600. You'll need to take the case off in order to get a good weld (again my opinion, a competent welder may say different but this is a tough area to get in to and this is a major load bearing structure). I am guessing you'll need to wait a few weeks to get the part. While you're waiting you can take your time with disassembly!

Thanks for the continuing input all. I did haul the tractor over to the dealer on Wed and they seemed to think they would be able to get the part there within a day or so. We shall see. I will ask them to save the broken parts so I can find a good welder that can weld it back up as a spare.

Good idea. As long as you have the spare one, it will never happen again...at least on that side.

Wanted to give everyone an update on where this thing stands.. Dealer called me on Wed and said the tractor was repaired. So parts were available for the fix and it got done in about 5 business days so good news. The lower 3pt hitch arm they are saying is not repairable and have ordered another one since the one I gave them was bent to almost 90 degrees. This particular part was not in stock so I'm having to wait for that. Anticipate having the part in on Wed/Thur this week. I was surprised to learn just that arm is like $250. Anyhow, they are going to return all the pieces they replaced and I will see about getting those repaired locally to have as a spare. Almost there!

Ruffdog some days I feel like Murphy is right on the tractor with me.. knowing my luck I'll break the other side next time. LOL

Glad to hear you got your tractor fixed so quickly. You should be able to straighten out the old arm in a press.

Glad it’s fixed, if you don’t mind would you say just how much the dealer charged to repair it?

Holy do-da-day. This is just one of several, like this, I've read here on TBN. I've used my rear blade both "straight" & "reversed" to level ground in reverse. Big Fish - you must be part cat and have many lives. You just used several. Good for the rapid repairs & you won't have to take a second on the house.

This exact situation could happen to anybody that uses a bladed implement in reverse. I don't have multiple lives - I'm simply going to QUIT all blading in reverse.

It just isn't worth it. Blading while going forward does just as well, without the risk of damage.

I have massive pine stumps & bedrock outcroppings. It just isn't worth it.

This thread will not stop me from plowing snow backward . It's still the best way that does not tear up the grass and dirt driveway .

AH - highgear - I reverse my rear blade and plow snow before my driveway freezes, rock hard. I would guess, you can't swivel your rear blade 180 degrees. For sure, if I plow with the rear blade in its normal forward position, prior to driveway freeze up, it can be a real hassle.

Forward or backward - plowing snow should not damage the 3-point system. Unless you push into a large frozen pile.
