Hello All from a Newbie,
I own a Yanmar 1401D that when I purchased had been retrofitted to a 3 point hitch, I came from Japan with a 2 point tiller, and then had a top link mount welded on here in the states, the problem is I cannot get my neighbors class 1, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif 3 point attachments to fit on my tractor properly. it just will not pick them up high enough. I was told to shorten the top link, I have it adjusted as short as I can, but still not going up high enough. I think the tractor's arms are as high as they will go, as they almost touch the seat. Maybe the bottom arms (I don't now what you call these) Is there a measurement I can take, are the lift arms too short?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Rick

The lower arms are just that.. lower lift arms.

The connecting links may have been changed out.. they connect the upper and lower lift arms.

On my ym1700, I had a slightly different problem.. my lower arms were so short, they were unsuable.. I added a set of lower cat 1 arms that go to a ford 8n from tractor supply, and all was well.... perhaps you may have to 'kustomize' a set of lower arms or something to that effect.

Go to www.ernies.net
There you will see a 1401 with a 3point set up that works very nicely.
Maybe you can see that one, and get an idea or 2.

I built my own 3pt hitch for my YM1301D. It seems to work OK, but the only implement I've used is a potato plow. And even it just barely cleared the ground when lifted to the highest position. These are small tractors, and sometimes the normal cat 1 3pt implements don't work so well. I've attached a photo of my 3pt. You can see more on my web page.

Built very similair 3 pt hitch for B6000. Also came with 2 point tiller from Japan. Lift height will always be limited. I built a single furrow plough, which in transport position is only 2" above ground.
The other problem with this configuration is the crank in the lower lift arms to suit the narrow width. It prevents any serious "pushing" in reverse. Push a blade rearwards for example, hit a stationery object and the arms bend sideways. Has happened me twice so far.
Afraid it is probably the case of accepting the limitations of the machinery geometry. All my equipment for B6000 had to be home made as only Cat 1 equipment was direct from Kubota dealer at inflated prices.

The closer to the tractor that the uprights (solid and adjustable) connect will make the attachment lift higher.

Thanks,

Hello Greg,
Great pictures, however; I was hoping to see your potato plow.
We want to dig a large number of daffodil bulbs for separation and replanting.
Some other sites had mentioned potato digger for this job.
Thank you for any suggestions along this line.
Sincerely, Norris

I have a customer that is buying a tractor to start a daffodil farm. He also was looking at potato planting machines. This is just very weird that I would hear about this all in the same week. Sounds like a boom in the daffodil market is about to happen /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Sounds like a good idea, no money in potatoes anymore..... At least not around here.

If you do go to a modified lower lift arm, you could do some bending.. sayt bend down.. to give you more clearance.

Some of the compact NH tractors use lift arms that bend out to give tire clearance.

Norris, take a look at this...
My wife and I grow cut flowers--or should I say "we grow and cut flowers"--that we sell to florists, restaurants, etc. We don't grow daffodils, but I recall seeing this implement the folks at "The Lily Garden" use to dig their bulbs. I don't know exactly what you call it, but it seems to work! Here's a link to their website if you'd like to take a look:
