does that model have draft controls too? If so, this could be an issue for you. It must have taken me a week to figure out the draft and position controls on my tractor (the manual was sooooo helpful), and I'm sure I still don't have it right (by the gouge I left in my drive last snowfall). I found the rear blade to be really effective (without gauge wheels) when it is pulled and drags dirt with it. Other than that, my lack of skill or knowledge has lead me to believe that it was wasted money, other than for pulling dirt. I didn't care for it's snow removal qualities, because it overflowed with snow quickly.TractorLegend said:After getting a new rear blade mentioned in another post and coupled with the fact I have a sore neck from crooning around to the rear using it- I got to wondering:

I doesn't appear hydraulic as the arms come out of the sides of the rear end...
plus the controls don't quite work the same as the loader and other hydraulic type controls, its sort of finnicky trying to use it to blade a driveway.
Would a tip and tilt rig help an aging soul??
Just my opinion, and I am not a tractor guru by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm thinking that my uncle's advice is as true for tractor attachments as it was for wood working tools. Although a tool may serve multiple purposes and do okay at them, it will never be as good as one designed for only one purpose. e.g. rear blade - snow plow.
