I have an L4400 and was plowing and discing a field with it recently. I tried to adjust the 3 Pt Lowering Speed valve but found it frozen. It is the round knob under the seat which regulates how fast the 3 point raises and lowers.

I have tried with both hands, as hard as I could manage, but cannot rotate the knob. I didn't want to grab it with any tools for fear of breaking something. I probably have not adjusted it in years so it must be frozen.

Any suggestions or easy fixes? Similar problems?

I think I'll spray some penetrating oil into the face of the valve and let it soak, maybe it'll break loose.

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

I had the problem with my B7800 a few years ago. I sprayed with penetrating oil several time over two days and then removed the shroud covering the valve stem and used an adjustable wrench on it since the stem had flattened sides near the end. It broke free and now I "adjust" it every few weeks just to keep it loose. No problems since.

My L3400 was that way when I got it from the dealer, sprayed some Kroil on it and let it set for a while, then I took some channel locks and very gently tried to move it back and forth. It soon freed up and I then sprayed a little Fluid Film on it and never had any more trouble with it.

I had one tractor that did that. I turned the plastic knob so hard that it cracked one side of the knob where it fits over the metal shaft so I just traded the tractor to Barlows to let them deal with it.
So for those people that say I just trade to be trading......I can always.....usually justify my trade.:D:laughing:

Thanks, I think I'll try the penetrating oil for a few days and then gently try to rock it loose. If that doesn't work, I'll take the shroud off and try to get it loose. Maybe I'll try some neverseize when I put it back together.

Thanks again.
