I meant to throw in my two cents on the bucket and blade method. I did mine that way last year. Never again. My rear blade sits in storage for the winter now. In my opinion, it takes a lot longer, and you end up with piles of snow everywhere. The blower method is quick, easy, and you end up with nice, defined edges to the driveway you can hit everytime, without digging up the lawn. The front blowers are definately very nice, but are a lot more money and you do give up the loader while it's on.

skivt, I thought about using a rear blower for snow this year but have been using a 6' rear standard duty King Kutter blade on my Cub Cadet 5234D. It's worked very well on my 500' driveway. The deepest snow so far this year was about 9" and my tractor and rear blade combo handled it very well. Yes, you do need to look over your shoulder but if you angle your hips a little bit its not so hard on you neck and back, no soar neck or back yet. I picked up the rear blade on sale at TSC for $160, this compares nicely to a front blower at almost $3000 or a rear blower at around $1600 to $1800. You can use a rear blade when its windy out and not have snow blow back in your face.

I had a 54 inch Puma 3 pt blower on my BX picked it up in May of 02 for $1K. Sold it for what I paid this year and now have a front blower and Sims cab, only way to go. Yea it was a lot of $$$, BUT how long to plan on owning the tractor and how often will you use it?? Regardless of weather you go with a front or rear blower also get a cab. Before I had the Sims cab I made one using a golf cart cover for $125, worked great for the $$, here is the link.

I wish I had a cab some days. This morning, there was no wind, so no problem. I'm thinking over the summer, I may rig something up like the Yankee Fan did (I hate doing anything a Yankee fan would do). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
