3 point tool bar

I finished my 3 point tool bar today but it will be a few days before I can try it out. I have a set of hiller discs and a couple furrow sweeps. I also built some hanger brackets to use my scarifiers off my LP box scrapper essentially making it a ripper bar. I have about $150 in it but I had all the steel in my scrap pile. The furrow sweeps and discs I bought from Agri Supply. I had to make holders for the sweeps those are made from some scrap roll bar material I bummed from my neighbor he is building an off road racer. I plan to use it for making raised rows for my garden. The lower arm pins I made on the lathe and welded them on. It was raining hard today so I just took pictures with the bar on the welding table. I slipped each attachment on the end of the tool bar for pictures. The main horizontal bar is 2" x 3" rectangle tube the uprights and lower pin mounts are 2" x 2" tube all tube is 1/4" wall thickness.

All it needs is a stand, some paint, and some use.

It is a proper weldment I don't think it needs gussets but if it fails I will weld it back together and add them then. Gussets would reduce the area I can move the tools and my tractor has 33 HP it is not exactly a dozer.

Looks good been meaning to build me one for light duty use like your hillers and maybe some spring type harrows. I'm thinking along the same lines about gussets as mentioned already if you're going to use the scarifiers. Not trying to cut down your design, as I was thinking of something similiar, when they are in the ground a lot of pressure will be put on your top arm of the tool bar and your 33 HP will act like a dozer and rip it off if one of the rippers hang on something solid. Around my place there's lots of rocks and roots to hang up. If you're ripping up where's there's no rocks should be fine.

This was my order the 3/8 x 2-1/2 V-Shaped bolts did not work their description did not match the product very well I ended up order some round U bolts from McMaster Carr for the discs & the roll bar I used on the furrow sweeps.

I have been welding things for almost 40 years I have yet to have one of my welds break the tube is 1/4" wall all attachment points are welded with very good penetrating welds on 4 points of contact the tube would bend before the welds break and 1/4" wall tube is over kill to start with if I had bought material for this job I would have bought 3/16" wall at max but since I had these pieces in the metal rack it is what I used. I have welded trailer stingers butt welded and they are pulling heavy trailers down the road with failure being a really big deal in this case failure would really only be an inconvenience. The ability to have more flexibility in adjusting the different tools to me is more important in the design than over building with gussets. I have designed many things over the years and used gussets when necessary in this case they are not and actually detract from the usability of the tool.
