3 Pt PTO Stump Grinder?

I didn't look past the first page of Google hits for "stump grinder". Here is a <font color="blue">link</font> to one of those hits. It shows a brand other than the Shaver mentioned by John and Ken.

Which brand(s) are good? I don't know. But, I believe there are a few companies that make them.

hmm, after seeing all those pictures, it makes me think that maybe a car rearend for a gearbox and some heavey plate with bolt on teeth for the cutter wheel might be a good start to build one of those machines. i might have to try that sometime. of course i could always just take the stump out with our backhoe or our bulldozer but a stump grinder might be kinda usefull in some cases

Hello market--I took out 45 on my farm 3 years ago and that was the best decision I have made for the farm upgrade in years--I no longer need to worry about hitting one with my Brush Hog or Disc Mower--I am pretty sure that I may have already paid for it with prevented maintainence on my field equipment.(not to mention added safety benefits)--The Local commercial operator gets $25 per stump + a minimum milage fee--Ken Sweet

I talked to a local guy here who run one on a 40hp.....he said it shook the tractor badly, and was slow....I'd be using it commercially, on a 20hp Kioti.
It would be a while before I get something like that anyway

Ken,

I found the SC-50 stump grinder on your website, do you also sell the SC-25? If so, how much would it run? I've got 20-30 stumps to get rid of, and I've been considering buying, renting or paying a pro to clear them out, but so far I'm just procrastinating.

Somthing that annoys me (perhaps it's just me) that the pto grinders all seem to only cut on one side of the wheel whereas nearly all the engine units and skid steer units cut on both sides of the wheel. Cutting only on one side seems like a lot of wasted motion in my eyes. I understand the bearing loading the manufacters speak of, but is it worth 2x the time needed to complete a job?
The reason I'm thinking about this is today I watched a commerical engine driven unit (towed) knock out four
12"-18" stumps in under 2hrs. At $50 a stump, that's $100 an hour. Time is money.
