3 pt Sprayer

Have received a lot of helpful advice on CUTs on this site and thought this would be a little bit of pay back.

Built this sprayer a few years ago for use on a 1970 JD 110 garden tractor. Has done excellent service spraying for weeds and insects etc. Takes about 30 min. per acre, and does about one acre per fill. Wand sprayer will reach about 15 feet up into trees. Boom will spray about a 10' width. Unit is based on a 15 gal sprayer with wand for use on a ATV. I added a mounting base and boom.

The recent modifications were to make the boom collapsable on impact, additional take down for storage and the biggest change, additional mounting on the 3 pt receiver hitch I just completed and a orange paint job.

Realize that a CUT could carry a larger unit, but do not have a large enough requirement to update whole sprayer.

Nice rig. I hope you don't mind if I copy some of it.

I have been gathering all the parts I need to build my rig but have not started the building process yet.

My rig will have two tanks because I won't mix organics with any chemicals, but I think it will look sort of like a stacked version of what you did. I really like your spring loaded boom arms, that is a great idea.

I'm also in the process of putting together a spray rig for a CUT with a 25 gallon tank, folding 140" spray arm and hand sprayer.

The addition of the tow hook and the hitch/receiver bar makes this very usefull.

What holds the slide in bars for the tank into the slots?

Made up a I beam with 2 pieces of 3/4 sq tube and a centre web of 1/8 trapping. Slides into frame of sprayer and into sockets on hitch. Will bolt to sprayer frame and is held in receiver sockets by a pin inserted in hole drilled thru socket sides and lower sq tube of I beam.

Had to work out a design that would still work with the old JD 110 as we have another lot about 10 miles away to keep clean and the JD will fit in back of pickup, Don't have a trailer yet for the new tractor (actually don't have new tractor yet either).

If you are going to use arms 140" long, give them good support, maybe a girder type construction. Get a lot of bounce on mine when going over rough ground at spraying speed.

I have the tank, and the wand, etc, on a pull behind. Would love to have one like this................

makes for the flat tire I had today, kind of out of date sort in a way you might say................I like it.
