Tiller 3 pt tiller advise

   / 3 pt tiller advise #11
I ended up getting a Kuhn 58" tiller for my B7800. 1900 delivered.

Yup could have got something cheaper over the net, delivered by truck. My thoughts were that I should probably get something from a local dealer so that I have access to good spares and parts supply for something that takes that kind of abuse in use.

I might be wrong and the sub 1K tillers out there from china etc on the net might have been very much good enough for my use, but I played it on the safe side.

What ever you decide, you need to be happy and satisfied with your choices.

Cheers
I like your attitude. Even if you never need parts for your tiller, he'll be there for your other needs. (Plus free advice is often available)

I have a KK II in the 60" width....and bought it on sale at TSC. I think I paid $1250 on sale. GREAT TILLER.....especially for the price. Ive run over a few hidden rocks and stumps.....and gobbled up some brush and barb wire....no damage to anything.

I have 25 PTO HP and think I could get by with a bit less HP....but I have very light soils. Soil (and crop types) may be a big factor for you.....also if the ground has been worked before...etc.

As stated if your HP proves too little...you could take a tine or two off.....operate at slower ground speed.....or till a narrower swath (re-tilling a portion).

I would definitely buy my KK tiller again.

OH....and TSC does have some sale prices during the fall and winter. I waited for those sales and saved some money on the tiller and on some other implements. As said...you gotta ask em.

Talk of tillers and no words from FWJ? His ringing testimonials to the virtues of the KKII tiller convinced me to get one, and for that I will be forever grateful to that flinty curmudgeon. Mine is a 5' and I have managed to bog it down once, in our North field, which is heavy clay and was very wet the day I foolishly tried to till under the multiflora and plant alfalfa. I did manage to bury the skids and turn about a hundred feet before the spool turned into a giant clay "Flintstones wheel". The combined implement & clay were so heavy the rear wheels sunk way in when I raised the TPH. That was with 25 PTO Hp. In sandy loam I can run it deep and the tractor doesn't even seem to be breathing hard. I'd say get one that will cover your tire tracks or one that offsets to one side. The 4' KKII is either offsetable or built with a permanent offset and may be a better match for your machine if you have heavy soil or like to bust a lot of sod. 'Till tomorrow.

Oh how i wish for a Home of Enonomy or TSC.. Here on the west coast the same tiller sells for 2200. Get the KK- I have one and love it; even tho I spent a thousand more than you will.

thanks for the imput. I'm gonna start shopping for a King Kutter II in either the 5' or 4' off-set and see what kind of prices I can come up with. Your advise was great ! This is a helpful site :)

KK tillers have an excellent reputation.

Last March I looked for a tiller and headed first to the dealer who sold me my BX2350 in 2008. They carry BushHog tillers (rebadged from Sigma in Italy). I bought a 48" for $1600 delivered. It is well built and it has served me well.

Getting good dealer service is important to me. If you find a KK from a dealer with a reputation for good service, well, what's not to like?

In 2008 our local TSC carried Dark Horse, some for as little as $900 new. They broke about as fast as they sold them. No Dark Horse at TSC this year.

I like to buy quality right up front. It saves in the long run.

2008 BX2350, lots of other stuff to go with it.
