I've got an older (probably 25 Yrs old) 13.5 hp Yanmar that I kind of inherited. It doesnt do a lot of work on our farm except a bit of rototilling and a bit of snowblowing. (probably less than 20 hrs/yr) Because of this and its trouble free nature its been neglected a bit in the maintenance dept. Now suddenly the 3 pt is not lifting the snoblower. So I tried to check the oil in the back end. There's a yellow cap under the seat to add oil but no dip stick. Not sure how you check the level. I tried adding a little oil to see if that would make a difference. It didnt. Is there some sort of screen in the hydraulic system? I dont think its suddenly low as it s never leaked. It was quite cold (-20C) when I tried it. But I tried it again after it had been in a building overnite that was 0C and it didnt work. Not sure where to start on this hyd. system. Obviously I dont have a manual. Thanks.

It could be low on oil, but more than likely it has moisture plugging the filter, If you have a YM135, the hydraulic screen is behind where the suction line attaches.

the dipstick is (if its the same as mine) on the left of the seat, on top of the axle - small 1/2" diameter rubber cap.

I find in real cold weather that the hyd. oil needs to heat up a bit before the FEL and the rear lift arms will work at good speed. Some food for thought.

Also, does this model have a dip stick rod on it to show the correct level of fluid in the sump? Is it missing?
