I am looking for feed back on this air compressor. It has the same setup as the 60 gallon tank but only smaller. The horse power and cfm are like 10 at 90 psi. I think I can run the same air tools as the 60 gallon because the pump and motor are the same as the 60 gallon. Does anyone have this air compressor in your shop and would you recommend this for air tools.If you have this compressor I would like your feed back. Thanks

I don't have that one. I have a Harbor Freight 26 gal. it runs my impacts and air ratchets etc. pretty good. I use mine all the time. Constantly working on my stuff or somebody else's stuff. I don't see why that one would not work. Hope that helps.

The gallonage of the tank is only"reserve" capacity of air, its the compressor part that it will maintain "X" CFM and "Y" pressure that indicates it will sustain during constant usage that determines if it will meet your requirements.....

Check CFM/Pressure rating of biggest tool you will run (probably impact) and size your "compressor" to that value or larger....

Might want to investigate the motor specs. My compressor has a Leeson motor rated for 10 starts per hour. Just another way to rate a motor.

I have that compressor like the one you're considering. It has served me well for over 10 years. As others have said, the reserve capacity is a problem if you wish to use it for tools such as sand blasting, extensive painting, etc. I use mine only for cleaning up tools, running impact wrenches and the like. For those uses, it's ideal.

Mine max's out at 125psi though. I suppose that after 9 years of no maintenance, including never changing the oil even, that may have something to do with the lower pressure. yeah, I have since changed the oil.

I do consider the power to be less than ideal though. Now I'm thinking a 60-80 gallon compressor that will run 185psi would fit my wants best. My advice, unless you only plan to air up footballs, or occasionally run an air wrench, go big. You'll never wish you had a smaller unit.

I think you will be happy with the 30 gallon tank. But if you think someday you would like to put an electric condensate valve on the tank you will be happier with the larger tank.

watch the old tanks!. there was a guy that used an old air compressor a few blocks away from me, and was killed when the tank exploded from rust!!. that being said, a larger tank will reduce the need for the compressor to refill it, and also, reduce water vapor going into the tank.

I don't think a bigger tank will change the amount of condensate going into the tank. The pump will compress and heat the air and when the air cools, moisture develops. The tank just stores the water until it is forced out by the valve at the bottom of the tank.

right, but having to compress and heat the air many more times gives you more moisture!. that is the problem.. also, the motor has to start more often..

Tanks and motors don't make condensate, compressing the air with an air pump does. The number of CFM's produced and the ambient temperature/humidity will determine the amount of moisture in the tank.

What does the size of tank have to do with making condensate?

I'm surprised you didn't figure that out yet..:shocked: I figured out 40 years ago, that a compressor that has to run a long time because it either has no tank, or one that is too small, get's VERY hot, and therefore produces a lot of water. if it's allowed a good amount of time to cool down, it produces much less water..

Volume is volume. Fill a big tank once or fill a smaller tank several times to equal the same amount of air drawn in, the condensate would be the same in both tanks give or take miniscule amount.

I have the same or very similar compressor but the larger tank. I've run some high demand stuff with it, such as sand blaster and impacts. It keeps up fine but the sand blaster taxed it the most. I'd guess mines at least 15 years old and has been pretty solid, but to be honest it doesn't get a ton of use.
