30 hp 4wd quandary

I have 11 wooded hilly acres in VA. I need to clear a lot of trees, and a lot if the land is steep and some wet. I want to manage woodlot and clear some for pigs and sheep.. Maybe a cow once I get some grass..

I really like the Kubota L3200, but also looked at Kioti ck35 and a MF 29 that was $3k more than the orange machines. I'll be skidding, terracing, postholes, and a lot of scraping. The Kioti has more features, but the Kubota is a Kubota, and I've read so few complaints about THAT orange machine.

If you were me, which would you get, and why? Or is there another machine that I should consider? Now just gettiNg tractor and loader.

I'm not sure with the L3200 but I know that the L3800 has some of the best loader capacity available. :thumbsup: Kioti must not be too bad, Daedong makes them as well as the Bobcat tractors, Landini tractors, McCormick tractors, and even some John Deere tractors in Australia. Daedong at one time was even selling parts to Kubota but they split off and Kubota has been a sole company ever since. From my experience the Kubota's i have used were really nice tractors. In your case, try them all out and find which one suits you best. :thumbsup:

You can't go wrong with a Kubota, but, You might also look at the Mahindra - they pack a lot of tractor for a good price.

Hmmm, it sounds like your property is similar to mine. I am also working on clearing some of my land. I started with a Kubota B3200, and while I was able to accomplish a lot with it, I found I needed more power and traction. I ended up stepping up to a L4400. At a minimum, I would start in the 35 hp range. Unless you will be mowing eventually with it, I would get R-1's if you opt for a smaller/lighter tractor. You will need the traction and weight for the type of work you are describing. Thats at least what I found out with mine.

The Kubota L series are heavier than the larger B's and I believe Kioti's are genrally heavier all the way around. Once you figure out your budget, I would concentrate on the tractor with the most weight for its size. I kinda still got it wrong with my second choice, LOL.

I am a Kubota guy, but the "skidding" part makes me want to consider the Kioti, I believe it is heavier, and I think you will need it. Or maybe even something bigger.

I strongly urge you to go for more than 30 HP. Something in the 45 HP range will make you a lot happier.

As others have said, go for the "Heavy" tractor. Front loader lift power and height or reach would be next on the list. :thumbsup:
