3000 SERIES FENDERS

   / 3000 SERIES FENDERS #11
Hey all
I'm thinking of trying to kitbash the front fenders for the 3000 series onto my 2520. Bare tires sure make a muddy mess of the tractor, not to mention the wet grass piling up on the MMM.:)

Greg

Had a 3320 O/S with MMM - no fenders. Now 3320 CAB with fenders. Can't say I notice any appreciable difference in the amount of grass on the MMM after a cut. I actually removed the two plastic spindle covers and at least it's easier to remove the grass. Have not had much experience with mud on either so no comment.

I should have known better, than to think they would be reasonably priced!
If I just got the plastic fender and nothing else, they would run me 130 beaners!
I think I will look into using the utility trailer fenders.I've already Googled them and they can be had in plastic. Quite a bit cheaper too.:)
I don't know what the fender mount on the front axle of a 3000 series looks like, but I'm guessin' it will be like comparing day and night as far as what a 2520 mount will end up looking like. I'm confident that it still can be done.

The one thing you probably already thought off is MMM clearance. I know the X-series fenders would pivot with the wheel do the 3000 series pivot or are they stationary. The 3000 fenders used to say they were not compatible with mid mowers and that must have changed.

Yeah,PCABE it will be close.Maybe too close. If so,I'll only use them when I do other (dirty) work, but I want fenders.:) I want them to pivot with the wheels too. If that can't be accomplished,I figure what is the point then.:(

PCABE thanks for posting those pics.
That is what I don't want. The fender is too far away from the tire, but has to be that way so it clears the turning radius. I want the fender to rotate with the tire, that way it will be much closer to the tire. Hopefully I can find something (fender) with the same radius and width as my tire.

Does anyone know if the steering arm, part #1 is weldable? If not, I'm sure it can be drilled and tapped.

Don't know for sure, but by the shape of it I suspect it's cast, it would be better to drill/tap it IMO.
