I have a 300CX FEL with the updated quick attach brackets. I can not remove the clevis pins in order to detach the bucket. I have tried everything that I can think of short of cutting the pins. The updated brackets appear to make it impossible to get the needed clearance to remove the pin. Has anyone else figured this one out?

Sure makes me wonder what pins you are trying to remove. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Maybe a pic of the problem pins will be of some help. Otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem provided the weight of the bucket is not on the pins.
Pic please. Would like to help.

Yeah, that was a real goof! They 'fixed' the QA bracket, but it is almost impossible to remove the pins. I haven't heard of a fix, but your dealer ought to be able to get some pins that would work....

I spoke with my dealer and they said that John Deere tells them to grind down the ridge so that the pin will have the necessary clearance. This seems crazy to me since the ridge was added to strengthen the weak bracket and grinding it down would just make it weak again.

Beenthere,
These are the two pins that you remove from the rear of the bucket in order to "Quick-Attach" and remove the bucket. There have been many posts concerning these brackets because they were breaking. JD strengthened them by adding ridges around the pins and now it is impossible to "Quick-Attach" anything.

Had the same problem after my dealer replaced my brackets with the "improved" ones. They said JD told them to drill out the holes in the Bucket locating pins. Their guy came out and used a pry bar to remove the retaining pins (impressive!), then drilled out the holes, works ok now.... love it when a plan comes together!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It is strange. The one they replaced has the issue, the one that is original is fine. Both are the improved version. I am thinking that drilling it out makes sense. Or should I polish the pin (much easier to replace if I screw it up. It works fine on my bucket....

My dealer ground down the ridges, following JD's recommendations. Works fine. Less risky than drilling out the holes, IMO.
