Still can't figure the 'skiddin' logs thing out... you guys must get free chains for your chainsaw.. I'm a whack up where she falls guy.... Don't run anything thru my chipper that even has a hint of sand on it....

I know what you mean; my stuff sits on a deck for 6-8 months, I'm decking for 2104-15 winter now. The bark and sand usually washes or falls off before I butcher & split.

I'm not situated on a former glacial-field/ moraine like some people....., the Oregon Coast Range being the latest mass of land that floated here from the South Pacific, possess volcanic soil that is like velvet. :cloud9:

We do have erratic glacial rocks that were transported here on giant icebergs during one of the Missoula Floods; one particular rock down the road at 400 feet above sea level weighs 90 tons, I haven't hit one of them yet.....:drink:

Well, thanks for all the advise; I really appreciate the thoughts and pictures.

I'll try this out for a month and see how it goes.

This is what I came up with for my rig; shop-floor slotted angle and four 2" rectangle bolts. I added 45 degree supports (1" slotted flat stock) from the sides of the tray to a higher point to each side of the ROPES bar, shortly after I took this picture. I left the bottom as open as possible to allow for debris and rain to pass through. I can put another saw (facing the other way), or my fuel and oil cans next to the bar. A bungee cord seems to hold the saw in place OK.

I have to figure out a way to stow the saw when I have the 28" bar attached; a manner that won't harm the chain or handle, perhaps a couple trunnion blocks made of fir. The saw pictured (362 with wrap around handle) equipped with a 20" bar.
