3016 or 3616 or something else entirely??

I thought awhile on this and came up with this. Either the 3016 or 3616 will serve you well as long as you properly size your implements to go with it. Too often we get caught up in trying to choose a tractor, when we really need to size and select the implements first, then select the tractor (the power source) to run the implement.

Very good advice in this thread. I was originally going to get a Max28 and after a very long conversation with Dave at Dave's Tractor, I went up to the 3016 and I am so glad he and I had that conversation. I went with the Shuttle, and 5' implements and have not had it bog down while shredding, and I had some tall stuff (5-6' in places) to get through as well as some small Ash Junipers. I have not yet run out of HP but have run out of traction with the R4 tires and the boxed blade with the rippers all the way down. I would buy the 3016 again if I had the chance for a do-over. My only dislike is the loader bucket is too small.

You will be plenty happy with the 3016 and 5ft equipment. Id go with the R4 tires for maximum maneuverability with the loader and heavy loads. As far as traction the R4s get the job done just fine and let the tractor have a wider set and also handles better in sand. When you talk about mud rely on your loader more than the tires to get out of a bind. Great model tractor and made to last.

all of the 3016's I've seen on lots over the past 6-8 months have all had R4's on them. I don't think it's an accident that most people seem to prefer them.

Mine came with them. I like the wider stance, and I'm sure they will work fine in the snow, especially since I have 4wd. I had R1's on my previous 2wd and I like the way the R4's behave in all the situations I've been in, so far.
