i'm starting to think i chose the wrong tractor.my jd won't be in for another week and no money has changed hands.since i found this site and done some reading between the jd and kabota,i'm starting to think the kabota is the better built and stronger tractor.my father-in=law has only jd tractors and i used his judgement on a tractor.i'm posting this on the jd side to get some good honest advice. ive always thought john deere was the best money could buy is this still true?tom

Just like Ford, Chevy and Chrysler, everybody thinks their brand is best.
Your FIL thinks Deere is best...

As far as which tractor is "best"...even as a loyal Deere owner, I'll tell your no brand is "best" as long as the machine is reliable and has a good dealer/parts network.
Now, is the 3032e the best machine for you? That depends...I do assume your did try one out...is that correct?
The only thing I do not like (and wouldn't buy one) about the 3032e machine is it has no off-seat PTO operation (for a chipper, generator or other tasks that require stationary use).

If you're getting last minute jitters...I suggest you cancel the order and do some more research. You may not be ready for a tractor yet...

roy,iv'e had tractors most of my life. nothing new though. all 8 and 9n fords. thought i did enought research, till i found this site less than a week ago. and the kabota guys are giveing my cold feet. honest ingin, what is the quality between the two makes?

Quality would have to be in the eyes of the beholder. I look at Kubota and see less quality than Deere. Kubota guys will do the same about my Deere.

As Roy said, the 3032e may not be the best for you but there are Deere models that are much better. And as well, Kubota models that are much better (or at least might be better).

But satisfy yourself, not your FIL or someone on the internet.
But compared to 8n and 9n Fords, Deere will be like being in heaven (and I've had those too and like the 8n).

What other dealers are close to you? Get there and play in the dirt till you find yours. The fun is in the looking.

I'm not sure why the Kubota owners' opinions would be better then your FIL's...or mine...or any other TBN members. Many of us have experience with ONE tractor (I've had three, all Deeres).

Do some more reading and research...and definitely get on the tractors! Make your own decision as to the "better" quality.

Now, at this point, you may have to cancel your order...and that's not going to make your dealer happy since he probably had to tie his money up bringing that 3032e to his dealership.

So, first I suggest you research TBN for threads and posts for the 3032e and see what those owners with personal experience have to say. If you're still not convinced the 3032e is your best choice, then cancel the order and keep looking.
And, think of it this way...if you hadn't found TBN...you wouldn't be having these qualms.

Kubota and JD have good tractors, but they are different and have different feels. You need to talk to some people - not just your FIL - about the tractors they use for work similar to what you plan. Then go and actually operate JD and Kubota tractors at the dealers. I tried both this winter and carefully considered costs, financing, power, and the things I needed to really do. I settled on a JD 3038e for a number of reasons. I liked the look and the feel of the controls, and the accessibility of the things I would need to use, and for maintenance. I was also disliked the pedal arrangement of the Kubota. For me it was awkward and difficult. For my wife - with knee replacements - it was impossible.

Another big factor in any tractor is also the quality and reputation of the dealer. For a first - time tractor, you need a dealer who is convenient and has a good shop with knowledgeable mechanics.

Take a look at both tractors - and others as well if you like - and pick the one that fits you.

No matter what is said on TBN, Kubotas are not generically better than John Deere units. Or vice versa. The truth is that one or the other may be better for you, but that analysis is up to you.

And the no off seat PTO operation of the JD e tractors is only a factor if you plan to use PTO equipment like chippers or splitters. My primary PTO attachment is a rotary cutter. It doesn't affect me.

Its not the paint that makes a tractor. Its whats in it....

I pretty much agree with everyone myself. They all have their own issues. I've had both orange and green. I went green because the brakes were on the left side and not on the right.

Look for the features you desire the most not color.

I recently purchased a 3032e, and love it. I looked at CaseIH, Kubota, NewHolland and John Deere. I agree, the quality of all the tractors I looked at was a matter of personal opinion to pick one over another. I grew up on a farm and we always had either a Case or a CaseIH, one 8n Ford, and my uncle had David Brown and an Oliver. All of them were great tractors and were used and abused for the most part.
I liked the feel of the controls on the 3032e. I personally prefered the plastic hood and metal side panels on the JD over the solid hood (prone to rust and dents, and probably more expensive to replace) on the Kubotas.
I read many posts on here. I searched each individual tractor in each manuf. forum.
I tend to stay away from the comparison and quetion posts of brand vs another, as each individaul owner sees the one he owns as the best. I wanted honest opinions on performance and reliability from owners, not a used car salesmen pitch ( which I have saw my fair share of from one inparticular Kubota guy on here).
After doing this research, I went out and sat in the seats, and talked with dealers. In my area, the CaseIH and Kubota dealers must have thought thier tractors were lined with gold, had very poor attitudes, and showed little to no help. This was a MAJOR turn off for me. I am most certain it does not reflect the attitude of all of thier dealers. The JD dealer I went too was simply great. Helpful, answered all my questions, didnt not look down his nose at me, treat me like I should have a money tree in my back yard, and worked with me on every single issue or question. They were truly second to none. Thats just a good way to do business in my book. I actually went there to look at a used Ford they had, and ended up buying a new JD off of them.
I loved the tractor from the time I sat in the seat and ran it on their lot.
It may not have been what I wanted, as I would of loved a nicely restored IH1466 or 1066, but I can assure you, it was and is exactly the tractor I needed with a quality dealer to boot !!!
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, so put some seat time in several different brands, and leave your options open if a dealer of the brand you want isnt worth a hoot.
I love my 3032e so far. Even my son loves it, and its simple enough for him to learn to run !!!
So make the best of your buying experience, and have fun. It certainly is nothing to stress about

i'm not that stessed. sat on both kinds and liked both. compared to what i've had they both were cadilaics. the plastic hood scares me a bit,has it stood up to you guys working your tractors?( thats the biggest thing i'm worried about)thanks for all the help i'm getting here just need some advice. tom

There is a difference in opinion of what is actually working a tractor and doing what it was designed to do, and abusing a tractor, or working it like a bulldozer or a tractor with twice as much HP.
I cant testify as to how the hoods will stand up as I have only had one for a week or so. It was a sticking point with me as I watched the used car salesmen pitch on a Kubota add on youtube, and read some of the same lame bashing on here.
Please note, I have always swore I would never own a JD as everyone back home who didnt have one said all you were buying was the name...used car salesman jargin...
After looking at both, and doing some thinkin, I figured it wasnt such a bad idea, and was a small compromise to make (the hood).
I have no intention of trying to push over an oak tree with my tractor either, nor fall a tree across it. If you leave it outside, I am sure it will fade over the years in the sun. I have flexed my tractor some mowing my 10 acres, and havent noticed it buckling or bending or getting any cracks or white lines where it may have flexed. But like I said, I havent owned it all that long.

I've had my JD 3320 for a fair number of years now and its been super reliable. I've had to get it repaired a few times, but it was ALWAYS my fault - Lets see ...

I once put gas in instead of diesel and had to replace the fuel injectors; I over-reved the engine and had to replace the tachometer - which meant replacing the dash - but it was my goofy fault for pulling something without realizing I was in the highest gear. I once overheated the engine (didn't clean the radiator screen soon enough), but with no damage.

I think that's about it. The thing is rock solid, starts great EVERY time. Last winter was kind of mild, so it got little (maybe no) use ... and in the spring it started up as if I'd run it yesterday. Love it. Really.

Since the plastic hood seems to be a concern...Deere has been using plastic for hoods and fenders (yes, the 3032 fenders are plastic too, IIRC) since 1998 (the older 4xxx series tractors), hoods have been broken...but most frequently due to an operator error.
Doesn't seem to be a big problem...

I've had maybe a dozen JDs garden tractors since 1972 and a 3720 for a couple years and since the last 15 years or so l with plastic hoods and fenders on everything and never had a problem cracking or anything. Although when they came out I had misgiving also. My concern with metal, and maybe they took care of that, was rust and noise. Plastic won't rust and is generally quieter, in my humble opinion.

I weigh about 280 after breakfast, and never had a problem with plastic fenders or hoods from stress, and I don't baby them much, but I try to keep them pretty. I know my Duramax has plastic fenders. I can see the left overs on a tree. I think a metal fender would have to be replaced to.

I did drop a 5" diameter rock on my hood over the top of the bucket from about 3 ft. higher than the hood. After I took a deep breathe and opened my eyes I couldn't find a ding. If there was anything it was a speck. Maybe it wouldn't hurt a metal one either, I don't know. Maybe I was lucky.

If you are locked in to your new buy, don't worry about it. Just get it. If you are not locked in, just stew on it for awhile. I have misgivings all the time to. You will find all kinds of people on this forum that really make you doubt yourself.

I got a Deere because I always worked there and know how much they push quality. They seem to be focused on the ergonomic operation of their equipment, plus the resale value has been great, they tell me, until you want to trade it in.:) But anything can break, in time. It doesn't matter what color it is.

Both good in my view. I like Deere because I'm used to the controls and I like the ergonomics better but I'll bet the Kubota guys say the same thing. My plastic fenders are better over steel if you ask me. I never had a crack and I've dropped junk on them. My friend had a 990, nice tractor, but the hood was all dented from limbs falling on it.
Do I think the Deere's and Kubota's are better than the chinese tractors? Yes, but give them time and they'll catch up too.

I like the Deere parts network. I can go in and get parts for my wife's 1985 riding mower that still works great. How do you beat that? I don't know, can you get parts for 30 year old Kubota garden tractors? That would be a selling point for me.

The other thing is Deere really takes problems seriously. The battery problems in my 2320 were fixed in my 3320 an the drive shaft problem was also fixed in later 2320. I like to see those things also, maybe I'm wrong but it tells me the company wants me to keep coming back. Resale is also good on Deere's. Those are some of the reasons I bought Deere.

Hmmm ... about the plastic hood & fenders ... no issues at all. My hood has a few scratches due to mowing around low tree branches, but no other issues. I'm a BIG guy - 355 pounds at the beginning of the year, but now down to 318 (thank you Weight Watchers!!) and my weight on it has been a total non-issue.

Oh, when I bought the tractor the seat belt was too short for me. The local JD dealer was good enough to find a replacement that worded great. I won't runt the tractor without the seat belt on.

thanks everyone for their input.. looks like im going green. told my wife this was the last tractor i would ever need(told her the same thing with the last four) so i just needed to be sure . now just need this week to go by so i can get it here!

I've also dropped a rock on my plastic hood without issue.

Also I think someone else might have mentioned it but I really like all the online materials. Some manuals, parts orders and diagrams.

Go with what tractor feels the best for you. You will drive yourself crazy reading over the posts on this site trying to decide which manufacture make the best tractor. The fact is that they are all good quality. Myself, I like the John Deere...reasons, I have 5 dealers within 60 min of my home in any direction. I need a part I will find it. I like the egonomices of the JD. Can't stand the single pedal on the Kubota...others love it...matter of opinion, no right or wrong. And lastly, I just like the look of the John Deere
