I guess it's all what you use the tractor for. The loaded tires seem to work for everything I do. I cant imagine not having them loaded but they have been that way from the day I took delivery. I have loaded the FEL with gravel and dirt and never an issue. The only time the loader didn't do what I wanted is when I was trying to pick up a section of sidewalk. The loader just wouldn't lift it, the rear never came off the ground though. The fluid in the tires seems to add quite a bit of weight. I also think of JD thought the extra weight was needed it would be required to be sold with the tractor with the FEL. Dealer never mentioned needing a ballast box.
