( Same here...reading all the valuable info here made for great preparation, but it became clear after about 2 minutes in the seat how much I had to learn...)

Got my 3130 GST today! You are right, got a lot to learn. I really like it though. It's so wet here, I don't know how much I can play tomorrow, but I will definately play some. It's amazing how many jobs I can think of to use it on. I've been waiting 5 years for a tractor here and I finally got one! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Got a box blade and 5 1/2' rough cut mower with the FEL.

Smitty, bored 12" holes in hardpan for new swine corrals. The power was awesome and the speed was really fast. Need better bit for the post hole digger though. I wouldn't buy a L3130 if my life depended on it. I'd go up in HP!!! Why buy a marginal machine. Whenyou need power this one "hemorrages" black smoke. This is after we fixed the fuel rate. I believe this tractor is working as designed and there's nothing mechanically wrong, albeit low HP. If any one says they have plenty of juice with this L3130 then they are babying the machine or are doing lite weight stuff, not manly man tractoring. Sorry veterans we all got snookered on the L3130 , the only difference is that I'm being down right honest. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Im sorry, I really dont get it. I really dont think there is a conspiracy here and I dont think you should be speaking for a group of people that have already spoke and didnt agree with you. Ive got a GST, not an HST but Im familiar with how they work. Black smoke isnt a sign of lack of power, its a sign that you are bogging or lugging it. I could be wrong, and if I am, I will apologize, but it sounds like you dont know how to use your HST. You do realize that for more power, you DO NOT push the foot pedal down, you let up on it? Your hand throttle gives you power (RPM). You will probably get rid of this tractor and probably wont buy another Kubota but if you dont understand the HST, you will have the same problem with a JD or NH or whatever HST you get.

Give it up! Your posts are no longer informative and useful. You have crossed the line and have become mean-spirited with your senseless mission to destroy the reputation of a fine tractor.

Like my mother taught me..."If you do not have something nice to say, keep your mouth shut."

I've stayed out of the fray with Ramon, primarily since I'm a novice at this stuff. But your observation pretty much explains why I pay no attention to him anymore.

In 20 hours of usage last week on my new 3130, I saw black smoke twice...as you pointed out, it was obvious why it was happening. Throttle set too low, and/or foot too heavy on the pedal. I can't understand how anyone can continiously see black smoke and not understand this, particularly somebody who supposedly has tons of operator experience.

As to my satisfaction with the power - I had zero complaints, even with the filled R4's. But then again, I was educated going into the purchase, and had a good idea what to expect. Like many others who have this tractor, I'm in no rush - I'm quite content to keep the thing in low 90% of the time, and when necessary, just took smaller bites than a large machine could.

It drug my 72" 580 lb. box blade with rippers set all the way down effortlessly. And I was skidding huge (to me) piles of alders to the burn pile - many of the loads were 8-10 50' trees w/ 10-12" trunks. Again - not fast at 2-3MPH, but that certainly met my expecations.

Big thiumbs up here...for my needs so far, I couldn't be happier.

I've seen CAT D9's do the same thing. Underpowered whimpy dozers /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can imagine that Ramons posts certainly had you wondering. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Black Smoke....
On my slightly modified diesel pickup, if I turn on all the toys and get into it from a dead stop I can blind the guy behind me. Not a problem, just a diesel outside it's sweet spot and trying hard to get back to it...... air.. fuel.. load.. etc....
I have to believe the tractors are just the same..
