i have driven tractors for the last 50 years or so, all of them except for my current one had clutches, no power steering, etc. and they did the job. but alas, as u get older some of your body parts don't work like they used to, so i decided that getting a hydro with p/s was the way to go. love it!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif but if u can tell me exactly which hormone to take to make my legs and arms work as before i will be more than happy to take it and go back to the old ford 2 n /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You most likely own a pickup truck and a small trailer too? You'd have to seeing as how you have two Harleys. You need the "extra" equipment to haul the harleys so your experience dosen't "diminish" /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm glad some of you got a kick out of my post. It was (OK, some of it was) meant in jest. Part of the truth is I was just too dern dumb to catch on to the GST trans. And I just didn't see the problem of approaching a pile of dirt, dropping the bucket, throttling up with my right foot, and modulating my advance/retreat with the clutch. Clutching after all these years is totally instinctive to me; it's not work. My left foot just seems to know what to do all by itself.

I wasn't crazy about many of the "Star Wars" features on the L3130. I abhor idiot lights and plastic. But the tractor just felt so smooth, competent, and solid I fell in love. At the outside I've got another 20-25 years before some other tractor operator is digging me a hole and dumping me in it. I think I can beat the plastic to our respective final destinations. I trust the rest of the tractor will still be going strong.

You guys still have ties? Mine kept getting caught in the sawchain and yanking me towards the saw. Man was I glad when the tie rack in the closet was finally empty, so I no longer had to wear one.

( but I found I used the foot throttle while using the FEL, not an option with the HST as I understand it. )
Yes your correct on that one. I've looked and looked for the foot throttle on my HST and still haven't found it. But then again I don't need it anyway with the hst.

Amazing how things change. When I had shuttle shift my foot was always on the foot throttle to get faster bucket cycle times and to get that extra little charge into the dirt or stone pile. Had to get the tractor into it's power range somehow. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yea I like clutches but for the tractor work I do I'll stick with my hst. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'll second that. I was really concerned with all the gizmo's and such that the Grand L Series has. I would imagine that they may fail before the tractor does - but they sure are neat! I do wish they had added a clock as one of the modes though. Sometimes I simply forget how long I've been out there. I guess I'm having to much fun - not shifting and all! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey, Cuzncletus...

How about filling in your bio to let us know about you? (just click on "My Home" right below the TractorByNet banner, and scroll down to click on "edit" after the "Personal Information..." line).

A little topic drift: I see from your post you were a private pilot. What and where did you fly? Did you have to give it up?

Cuzncletus, I am concerned about your arms. I would not want them to atrophy so I will be right over to remove your power steering pump. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

stvman: Good idea! I'm afraid if you hadn't offered, with all that pumping on the clutch and my girth I would have ended up looking like a lopsided bullfrog.

"I do wish they had added a clock"

icat:

If you had gotten a cab model, the clock would be there, along with the am/fm/cd/weather radio. No cab, no clock!!
