The more I use my tractor, the more I appreciate owning it .The only gripe I have is the seat belt. It seems very ackward to fasten (it pulls from right to left ). Without any major mods is it possible to make it fasten from left to right ? It's just a natural thing for me to reach down with my left hand and grab the belt to fasten it . Thanks , John

Hey if you can even get yours fastenened you're ahead of me.

I had a Kubota BX that had the problem my current JD4210 has,
that being the seatbelt constantly ends up under or beside the
seat where only an ungloved hand can pick it out. Sometimes
you have stand up fish the danged thing out.

On my JD it's even worse, the receiver is on the right but it
is a noodle like piece of __ __ __ __ that just flops around
resisting most attempts at connection. Might as well be
a snake over there I have to corral.

My 3 year old Kubota has a "normal" seatbelt, my 20 year
old Ford has a normal easy to use seatbelt, my friends 10
year old JD has a normal seatbelt.

I've always thought it bizarre that the most critical item on
the "need-to-use" list is something I can see a lot of people
ignoring.

I am on and off my tractors every 10 minutes sometimes. I'm
just going to go shopping for a new seatbelt or figure a way
to mount these toads.

Seems like yours you could just switch the pieces left to
right.

Just a thought but is there any way that you can add a belt retractor? That way it would always be in the same spot, not something you would need to fish for. My Boomer retracts the long end of the belt and it seems to keep me from hunting for it all the time.

Your "gripe'n" about having to strap from right to left? I really like the adjustment free and rigid risers they use. Perhaps it's my ambidextrous nature. I play tennis right, ping pong left, basketball is all left handed except inside the key then it's right, I hammer either way, I can even write right handed even though I write left. I water ski with either foot forward same with snowboard. It really makes very little difference to me for many things. I enjoy using my right hand for the mouse and being able to write or type with my left. I shoot a pistol equally well right or left. One thing I cannot do left handed is throw a baseball, I throw like like a girl. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Rat...

Rat, It's not the end off the world to me . In fact it's really the only irritant that I can think of about my machine .And it's minor to be sure ! I'm pretty much comfortable using either hand as required as well . I just have a habit of fastening my belt when my butt hits the seat . And for some reason I always grab for the belt with my left hand . My basic routine is sit down , Turn the key,and go for the belt pretty much all at one time . Very Pavlovian , But that's how it is /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

Actually that's the problem, the retractor pulls it down too
far, I've thought about trying to put some kind of clip to
keep it from pulling too far. Seems like I tried this on the
BX when I had it and it kept it out just fine but out to the
point that it was locked so I couldn't pull it any farther and
had to shove it back in.

I think it's a problem on the smaller narrower tractors.

I reach back with gloves on my Kubota L35 and the seat belt
is right there, always. The right side receiver sticks up
6-8 inches and is stiff enough not to fall away when I am
trying to latch it.

Rat, you have a genetic defect. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif When you were forming your
DNA forgot to complete the task by making your other side
a goofy semi-useless version. Wish I HAD that "defect". /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

In school I could hit a baseball left or right equally but
I cannot figure out why I can't learn to throw a ball with
my left arm!

Some of that's habit I think, learned. My wife bought a coat
she found, was something like $8 but was for sale cheap because
it was GREEN AND RED. Was a big coat and the zipper was back-
wards. Complained about it for awhile, then found it such
a warm, comfortable hard to tear coat I kept it till it was
rags, and began to dislike my others with their "male" zippers!

Hey Rat,

I can give you some competition...as you can see from my picture to the left! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John, on my B2910 the belt goes left to right. Still is a little hard to find sometimes, down there between the fender and seat, but it plugs in real easy on the right side... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Henro

My seatbelt goes from Right to Left. Plugs in on the Left side. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It is easy to use though. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
