Recently bought a jd 3130 knowing that the hyd lift did not work properly and had been setting in a shelter for a couple of years, come to find out the rock shaft bottom rod seal was leaking and leak the hyd fluid out. Replaced the seal cleaned the screen hyd filter and replace the can filter. Power steering worked after that but the lift was extremely slow coming up. Now after about 30 minutes of use the steering goes out, The pto works, lift lifts slowly and now the steering goes when its runs awhile. I can let it set for about 20-30 minutes steering works then again warms up goes out again, Any idea?

Buying a JD utility tractor of that era with hyd problems is taking a BIG RISK. With 3 pt raised engine running look in hyd filler hole at the rear for spraying oil. With a laser thermometer check for a hot hyd component indicating an internal high pressure leak. Also those tractors have a history of leaking supply tubes/seal that supply oil to the hyd ind pto & hyd hi-lo requiring a tractor split to repair.
