I've never written anything on a forum before now and am not sure what to write. So here goes.

I always loved tractors. I purchased my first one, John Deere 2305, in 2006. Just a few days ago I traded it in for a Mahindra 4035. I purchased a snow blade, front end loader, and a finish mower. I should be all set for retirement, which started May 1st of this year.

I used information from this web site to help decide which tractor to buy.

I do have a question. Why have a title? If you do, how would you know it's unique and no one else has it?

I've never heard of a tractor having a title in the US. In Europe I think they have title and tag. With a private sale you might get a bill of sale, which doesn't really mean much, except that you paid someone for it; it does Not really prove that you own it. It is possible for someone to sell you a stolen machine and write a bill of sale; you don't legally own it, BUT the bill of sale will at least prove YOU didn't steal it.

I am not certain if the OP was referring to a tractor title or the thread title.

Since they put a ? in the thread title and the context of the question I think there may be a miscommunication.

Paul Harvey's response is correct as it stands.

The thread title is whatever the OP wants it to be to draw attention to his thread topic. In this case the OP used a ? as the thread title.

Thread titles, help those of us that look thru the daily posts to decide if we are interested in taking the time to read the thread or not. If it catches our eye as something I could help with or just be interested in then I am liable to read it. If it does not look interesting then I may not. Yours was slightly interesting because I have never seen a title with just a question mark before. As for caring that your title will be the same as another. Why care?. And the likelihood that they would be the same is not very high. When you put something pertaining to the actual "meat" of the thread in the title, it then can become useful for a person to search for at a later time. As an example "Kubota L3400 jerky 3pt hitch" Would be helpful for someone searching about the notorious Kubota jerky hitch syndrome. Make the title anything you like, but the interesting you make the title, the more people will take the time to investigate the thread.
