3205 Electrical issues

I have a 98 3205 w/a Kawasaki 20hp liquid cooled engine. My battery was low so I jump started the tractor and began cutting grass. After an hour running, I lost spark to 1 cylinder. I replaced the plug and coil with no luck. I replaced a $200 igniter (which I took apart and found to be fried). Needless to say, the tractor fired up an ran for about 10 minutes with signs of ignition problems again. I shut off to avoid burning up the igniter for the second time. Any idea what else could be the problem? Voltage regulator? any relays? Please help before I make the dreaded call to the dealer to pick up (and pay several $$$ to fix something hopefully simple)??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I had a similar situation a 3205 where the thing would start missing and eventually foul out the plugs and die. I was using it to plow at at night with the lights on and quickly found out it was electrical when the lights began to dim then the fouling and eventual death. Upon checking the battery, I found both terminals hopelessly corroded over. Out came the battery for a thorough wire brushing, hosedown, and night on the charger; the terminals got a similar treatment. Next I wire-brushed and checked the gap/wear on the plugs, followed by draining about a half-quart of "extra" oil from the crankcase on this new-to-me used machine. Put everything back together with the appropriate spray on the terminals and the thing was twice the machine for the next few seat hours until I sold it early last spring.
