Tractor
4110 JD
I am going to be buying a 3320 or 3520 (up from a 4110 Jd). Years ago I feel in love with tractors and later brought a 455, then a 4110 and now soon one of the above. While I need it do real day-to-day chores and tasks I also love the lines and looks of a tractor. I noticed when I was on line on the Deere web site they have an option of through the hood exhaust, is there any disadvantage other than height to having this on the tractor. Oh the price is $160 more but to me the style and look of the stack there is worth it. I know to some that would not even enter the mind but to me it’s a whole package that I am after, workhorse with style and grace. The smoke and sound coming from the stack is something that is missing to me.

Any thoughts or input please.

Thanks

Roger

I agree, I like the vertical exhaust better than the low exhaust. Not only for looks and sound of course, but because it is safe. My 4200, had the standard exhaust, which was fine, til' I got a Jodale Perry Cab for it. That is by far the tightest aftermarket cab available. But, when I was out spending the night out on the tractor doing snow removal, especially if I was working in one small area, the fumes would creep in. In real cold weather the fumes tend to hang low to the ground if released at ground level. I would come in take a shower, because I smelled like exhaust... and I would get a banging headache... felt like somebody tapping me between the eyes with a ball pin hammer.... So, I then got the vertical exhaust.. problem solved... no more headaches... and I didn't smell like tractor fumes afterwards..... So yes, I am a huge fan of vertical exhausts, especially if you are in a cab... so I have my new tractor 3720 Cab Tractor coming (hopefully tommorow or the next day) with a vertical exhaust installed... they look cool, and they are safer for people with cabs... Beyond preference, consider what you'll be doing and safety issues such as the fumes mentioned.

I had one tractor with a stack on it, it was torn it off no less than 3 times because we bushhog fields close to the tree line, drive into the woods to drag out logs and drop barn mulch in a wooded area. It was just too easy to snag it on something. I never did, all three times someone else was using it. But it did slow me down as I had to navigate carefully. With just me and a roll bar a branch could be pushed aside or up and over when it reached me.

On the other hand, if you do a good bit of ground work like a saw mill or splitting wood etc... it's nice to get the exhuast up in the air.

I have 2210 with a cab and I hate the exhausts that comes up from the bottom. If you have the option to install vertical exhaust I would do it.

By the way can you install vertical exhausts for 2210? Where can get the kit?
