You guys must live on your tractors.. :)

My 2002 4310 might have a tad over 400 hours. I do wish I had a 72" MMM for it. A bit covetous I am..(need to work on that).

But I've probably logged 400 hours on my FIL's 5420 since 2002.

Very dependable. Most of my problems have been due to outdoor storage and age.

Motorcycle nut too, but don't get to ride much anymore. My buddy teases me and says "The clutch is still on the left side."

I do some custom work with mine. That's where the hours come from. The first year I owned it I put on 200 hours. It's been a bit less every year since then. It's paid for now but custom work was the only way I could afford the 4410..

I enjoyed your 1000 hour review. Especially the part about your memories of your grandpa. And this part:

I'm a believer that some inanimate "things" have soul. It might be an old tractor. Or an old pickup. But from your post it's apparent you probably understand that...maybe that's what you were getting at with your above comment.

Sure...I own some "combat Tupperware". But it's just a tool. This gun, on the other hand, which is exactly the gun you're speaking about, has soul. You can get a lot of things with injection-molded plastic...or polymers, if you're the technical type. But you won't get the true experience of feeling a gun's soul unless it's made out of steel and wood. I have a newer tractor and I like it. But it's got a lot of plastic on it just like most modern things.

I wish I had an old tractor made out of honest to goodness steel without all the modern stuff. I like old stuff.

Very nice old Smith, too bad they don't make them like that anymore.

Nice review and write up. Doesn't surprise me though. The JD compacts have always been excellent machines. Though I may be a little biased, as my 770 has constantly surprised me over the years. It will be thirty years old this next year and has seen a lot of abuse. But it starts and purrs like a kitten every time you need it!

Nice write up. I've got 2,100+ and still have org battery (sits outside all the time). Replaced front R4s couple years ago and the seat last spring. Need to do seals on 447 outriggers and sidetoside swing again. Have 150 hours on backhoe.

I got mine about the same time but only at 260 or so, 448 hoe and the cx loader never cease to amaze me

Wow. The bluing on that S&W looks a mile deep. That would look right at home on my nightstand.
