Well, unfortunately I was in a hurry and didn’t take the time to take more pictures. This one gives you some insight into the process of loading an old car onto a trailer.
A friend wanted to have this 1982 diesel Audi removed from behind his workshop. It has been sitting in mud and surrounded by tall grass for years. We discussed pulling it out of its spot with my pick up and then using a come a long to try to load it onto the trailer. When I arrived at his house I happened to have the 3320 on the trailer and I planned to leave it at his place while I hauled the car to the local salvage yard. So, for the fun we thought we would try to extract the car with the little 3320. I approached the car from the front and planned to try to lift it with the FEL. To my surprise at idle, the FEL didn’t even struggle and easily picked up the front end of the car. Next we wrapped a log chain around the axle and the bucket on the tractor. Then I put the tractor in 4x4 and stomped on the differential lock pedal. After we reattached the chain several times, the tractor managed to pull the car out of its lodged location without even spinning a tire. In addition, the car has no wheels or tires in the back, so I was dragging the car on its rear end and making a mess in the dirt and mud. We removed the chain and I used the FEL to position the car so that it would line up with the trailer. I gently lifted the rear end of the Audi and pushed it up the ramps on the trailer. Something under the car caught the trailer and I couldn’t push it up onto the trailer any further. In fact, I was able to push the Audi, the trailer (14,000 pound capacity), and my pickup (1996 Chev 3/4ton HD ext cab 4x4) all at the same time! After moving the entire connected mess a few feet I moved to the side of the car and was able to pick it up and free the car from the trailer. Finally I moved to the rear of the Audi again and while lifting with the FEL, I pushed the car onto the trailer.
I have to say, I am quite impressed with this little tractor. I am equally impressed with the 300CX. What a combo!
This all took place on Saturday. My tractor is still at my friends and I’m not sure when I will get it back. He keeps finding uses for it… His wife told me that the next time I come to visit they will have one just like it…
