15 ft pounds. Curious did you order a compression gage also from Hoye?

No I did not, didn't see your post until after I had placed the order. Looking at the injectores I am pretty sure the middle one was plugged, the carbon build up was way above the other 2.

Thanks for your help

Got curious this afternoon and used a hand held compression gage;

Front and rear cylinder I could not hold in the pressuer was so high.

Middle got up to 75 lbs but I could hold it. Guess I need to dig a little deeper. Will check the valves next.

The gage is clamped like an injector into the head to check compression and is the reason I mentioned it to you earlier.

Btw it should have 450 psi no way a guy can hold that much pressure back by hand plus there is a pre-chamber that has a seal under it further complicating getting a reading with anything other than the right setup.

And valves are set @ .006" cold but as long as they are on the loose side rather than too tight the adjustment will have very little to do with cranking compression, whether they seal or not will most definitely have an effect. hth

Found a bent push rod on the intake of the middle cylinder, straightened it out and every thing looks ok. The clearance was over .020 so tightened it up to .006. Waiting on new injectors due tomorrow.

I wonder if a bent pushrod indicates a stuck valve? You might want to check that before reassembly.

Checked the valves, everything is moving as it should. I think the tractor had been sitting for awhile Cylinder has compression, hope that fixes it. New injectors and filters will be here tomorrow.

Hope it runs good once you get the parts in they do run real nice and smooth when everything is right. That's a good machine mine is basically the same tractor it serves me very very well yours should too. :thumbsup:

Car doc, can you record your tractor running for us so we can know what a properly running 336 is supposed to sound like?

One issue I have had since day one is not having any idea what a properly running 3 cylinder should sound like. I'd hate to think mine is meant to sound like it does, but have no idea.
