I have a 3430 cab and a older 1015 Woods-DuAl 3pt backhoe attachment I would like to install. I know about the cab issues with backhoes but I can fab up almost anything I need to extend the hoe 3pt brackets.

Questions:

If I modify the hoe to hook-up to my 3pt hitch will I over stress the top link bracket? Do I need a heavy duty top link?
Can I order a subframe kit to attach this hoe to the 3430 with out to much modification? Anyone use a 3pt hoe without top link breaking problems on a 3430 Kubota or a 3130?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I had a BL4690 Bh mounted on my 3130. It ws a 3PH mounted BH and I put several hours on it and didnt have a problem. I think thats a little smaller BH than the Woods you have though.
I wont say I babied it but I always stayed aware of the top link mount while using it. I wasnt concerned about breaking the tractor in half like others have mentioned because the 30 series comes with a stout subframe that connects the rear axle to the loader frame already and is really not much different than the subframe used with the bigger BH90.
Anyways, I dont think there is a heavier duty top link bracket for the 30 series. The way I understand it, and I could be wrong, its already got the HD bracket on it. I was always more concerned about busting the whole top of the axle housing apart and Im not sure a HD bracket would keep that from happening anyway.

I recommend you DO NOT use a 3ph backhoe on that machine.
While not famililiar with your specific backhoe I can offer my experience.
I have a bh90 on a l3130 and can say without hesitation that if the bh90 was 3ph mounted it would destroy the machine in short order. The machine is plenty strong and so is the backhoe.
Since you can fab just about anything why not have some fun making or modifying a sub frame if one is not readily available. Go to the Kubota dealer armed with a digital camera and take a load of photos of a sub frame on a l3130-l5030 to get a model to work to.
If you decide to go with the 3ph that's ok if you keep in mind what can happen if the mount fails and just use it accordingly. Since the machine is strong there will alway be the temptation to pull just a little harder when the object is stubborn. I can't imagine anyone babying a backhoe.
Do be sure to post some snaps of your progress.

All the best,
Martin

I think I will call woods and see what the price for the frame mount for the BH65/75 that bolts right up to my cab tractor. I'm sure that with some modification I can make this mount work without to much work. If that want a arm and a leg for the mount then I will for sure go and take a few pics of the mounts on some of the grand l's that have a hoe mounted. I really think I wil try to go frame mount over the 3pt mount.

Last question:

Can I use front weights instead of a FEL to help counter weight the backhoe? I don't have a FEL yet.

I have the BL4690 on my L3430 and have had no problems. I have about 30 hours on the hoe and 425 on the tractor. The stock top link bracket is the only one available, it uses the step shoulder pins.

I wouldn't use a backhoe without the loader, the loader frame ties the tractor together. Kubota's manual says use only with loader.

Ah, you need a loader there pilgrim. For a number of reasons.
It will provide a longer stance and take the load off the front axel and can be used to help stop the machine from creeping on soft materials. AND it provides a way to tie the hoe and tractor frame together.
The bh90 subframe ties the hoe to the axels, the rops, the loader frame and the tractor frame so the whole machine is stressed.
If your hoe is a smaller unit similar to the bl4109 (or whatever the number is) and the fellows here have had no problems then I stand corrected about needing the subframe. You really don't need the loader either since the 3ph doesn't tie into the loader frame. But you are asking a lot from the differential case casting.
These are only my obsevations and I guess Kubota knows what it is doing when offering a 3ph mount backhoe. I have compared the two mountings and they are far from equal with the subframe being clearly vastly superior.
Imagine the entire rear of the tractor being supported with the hoe stabilizers and what are they connected to? If all you have are some bushes or bulbs to plant then the 3ph is ok as long as you don't hit any big tree roots or boulders. This will likely rub some against the grain but a side by side comparison will speak for itself.

So, after you call woods please post the pricing and if you buy the frame please keep us abreast. I just like the sound of that, naughty but legal.

All the best,
Martin
