Looking at the rear tires make you wonder what they have been using it for on concrete for.

Doesn't look bad, gas or deisel?
Any leaks, trans/clutch feel solid, hydraulics, aux. hydraulics?

Though $3500 doesn't sound bad for that tractor but that one does not have power steering and I think for a little more or the same price you could find a comparable tractor with power steering. If you are wanting something that size and similar price range you might also look at the Internation 606, MF 135, 150 or 165, Allis Chalmers 160 or 170, John Deere 2020 or 301A, or even a Ford 4110, 3910, or another 4000.

If you are wanting one with a loader in that Hp range and are willing to pay a bit more then PM me.

I agree, the price seems good for the tractor that looks in pretty tidy condition.

I don't know why you would need PS in a tractor of this size though without four wheel drive. I drive them a lot and never find the steering hard, when there is a load on the back, it feels like power steering :)

$3500 is pretty much the going rate for that tractor in my area, basically the same as the Ford 800 and 801 series. Looks to me like it has a 4 speed transmission, which means no live PTO.

Our 135 Massey Ferguson doesn't have PS either and yes you are right, it does steer well when there is a load on the back, but if you have a load on the back and are turning at the end of the field the front sometimes wants to skip rather than dig in and turn (especially if there is a hill involved). I have front end weights on the 135 and I would add more but it becomes kind of brutal with no load behind the tires.

Birdhunter.

Now that's something you don't see every day...Some-body singing the praises of a 2020 diesel , We bought 3 of these new in 67-68? and only sold them a few years ago when i came to canada .I'm no deere lover but if you could live with the weak hydraulics these things were 100% reliable and were the only deeres to survive in our eventually all blue fleet of 16 tractors ...an awesome little puller ,Would out pull bigger tractors like david-brown 1210 ,mf 165 or ford 4600 ?

Whoops ?

Never been on a 2020 deisel, but my uncle has a 2020 gas and it is one heck of a machine. His has the stub out axles, HD front end, telescopic lift arms and cast iron wheel centers. It's not like most of the 2020 that are a more lightweight duty version. His looks more like a 4020 or 3020 with smaller tires.

That's what suitcase weights and front bumpers are for!

I've got that Soundguy but the problem is when there is no load then the front is heavy and turns hard, unless you take a bunch of weights off. Even though I'm 27 and pretty strong them things are heavy and that crap gets old quick.

Yep

But they make it blemming difficult to steer the rest of the time

Guys.. that's why they are removeable.

And at 60-80# each.. that aint so bad.. Heck.. animal feed bags are 50# each.. and i throw a few thousand pounds of them every month.. Lifting a few bumper weights is just part of the game there bird hunter.

I agree, you can just take the things off, but you have a problem when doing something like moving round bales.

You need the weight to keep the front on the ground when there is a bale on the back but it is hard work without a bale.

My was is just to pull wheelies :) Thats what steering brakes are for IMHO :)

Yeah but feed bags are easier to grab with two hands than suitcase weights that have a grab handle big enough for one hand.

Power steering sure is nice when you hit a stump or run off in a hole. Without power steering the the steering wheel will kick back on you, power steering won't do that. My cousin got a couple of broken fingers because he had his hand inside the steering wheel spokes and hit a stump.

Note to self: Don't do that.

Hmm.. I'd have to disagree there. ( at least for me personally..) At least the ford suitcase weights i have, ( 2 styles ) are not too bad to carry.. one hand inthe handle.. one under the edge.. carry them close.. they don't shift on you like a feed bag.. and are smaller so you can suppor thtem close to your body.

I have the smaller thick ones that are about te size of a large pie pan.. and I have the larger thinner ones that are more like a half newspaper section. i also have some 60's / 70's vintage ford pillow weights .. again.. they are shaped kinda like a kleenex box... no big deal.

I'd rather move cast iron weights than throw feed bags... the bags rip, fold, settle etc...

Lets face it..if you have a tractor.. 50-80# lifting is probably 'routine'.. I know it is for me... i just went to the feed coop and fille dup on bagged feed today to restock my barn.. had to load them myself at the doc, and then unload into the barn... just part of the job...

Gotta pay if ya wanna play...

When you need 3/4" and 1/2" drive tool sets to work on your tractors.. at some point you know there will be back strain involved...

Depending on your steering gear setup.. some units are more prone than others. if yours uses a worm gear.. they don't re-transmit as well as a dircet wheel gear to sector gear setup.. examples would be a 9n and n 8n.. 8n uses a worm setup... 9n basically has a gear on the end o fthe steering shaft that engages two opposite side sectors... that style kicks back BAD... the worm not so bad..
