I am in the DFW area. I have quite good growth of grass on my property. If I don稚 mow, then it gets waist to chest high in a year. If I have cows, then I would most likely have them primarily feeding from the pasture, but would probably need the hay bales in the winter.
I have a friend at church who痴 in the hay business and was asking him about that. He mentioned all the tilling that had to be done and I知 quite weary of that right now. My land is mildly hilly and there is a significant amount of erosion around the creek that runs on the back of the property. I don稚 want to do anything that would only add to the erosion, but I知 pretty new to country living so I have no idea how tilling would effect this.
I have no interest in messing with bees.
