I wanted to use my cruise control, but it seems that it won't come on. I was in forward motion, flipped the cruise on button and then the set button, then nothing. The green dash light didn't come on and no cruise control. Is it possible that the cruise/max button and set accel/decel button wiring was switched? I pulled the covering off the panel to take a look, but without a wiring diagram its hard to tell which goes where. It wasn't labeled. Both switches have three wires leading in.

This is not an emergency or anything, but short of going tro the dealer, anyideas? Thanks.

I doubt the wiring is incorrect. gray, red and purple wire are to the cruise/max speed switch. green, red and blue wires are to the accel/decel cruise switch. white and orange are to the motion match switch. Check to make sure they have not pulled loose from the switch. You can also try pulling up on your brake pedals. If they are slightly depressed the cruise will not work and it will usually throw a fault code.

I will try to pull up on the brake pedals to see if that's it. Is there a sensor there that might be stuck shut? If that's not it I'll pull the panel again and double check the wiring.

Kude, sorry I really don't know if or where the sensor would be. I guess its just like a cruise on an auto if you touch the brake it will turn off the cruise. The same applies to the tractor if the brake pedal is slightly depressed it will prevent the cruise from working. My 3520 will throw a fault if this occurs. I don't remember what number it is though.

Sincerely,
Dirt

dirtworksequip,

I pulled the panel again and looked at the wiring. The gray red purple went to the accel/decel and green red blue went to cruise/max switch which is clearly switched from what it should be based on the information on wiring you provided. I disconnected and switched the connections. I powered up for a road test and everything works the way it should.

Thank you very much for the wiring information, it saved me a trip to the dealer.

You're the man!

Have a nice day!

Kude, glad you got the problem worked out,but how did the switches get hooked up incorrectly?

dirtworksequip,

I think this is a dealer installed option or field upgrade. It should have been tested though, don't you think? I guess the guy at my dealer who does the CUT setups is a little bit overwhelmed. They have one guy out in a back shed that does the Gators and CUTs.

I did have my annual service done in March, no one caught it then either.

Of course I didn't catch on (in over a year of ownership) that it wasn't working until I wanted to use it. So the moral here is test all options to make sure they work, right?

Kude, I guess maybe the set up guy just got in a hurry and installed the switches incorrectly. The cruise kit comes with install instructions. Yes, it should have been tested before leaving the dealer, but it just seems these days "just get it done, whether its right or not" Glad you got it sorted out.

Sincerely,

I have a 3720 Cab tractor with cruise...

I am quite literate with all machinery etc...but for the life of me I cannot get the cruise to work either...my dealer serviced the machine and says it works...but it doesn't work for me.

Can someone please explain the correct way to turn it on, then set it and resume it.

For some reason I am just an idiot when it comes to this one function

now ask be how to use ride control or return to dig on my Deere Wheel loader...no problem...but cruise on this little tractor....I;m lost???

Thanks

Dave

SuperdutyDave,

First switch, there is a Cruise (top of switch)/ Max (bottom of switch). Press the top Cruise part, this enables the cruise control but does not set it.

Then second switch while in forward motion hit the Set Accel + which is the bottom portion of the Resume Decel - (top)/ Set Accel + (bottom) switch. Now your speed is locked. Use the -/+ to lower or raise your speed. Hitting the brake disengages the cruise control. I believe pushing the Resume when going forward again after braking picks up the previous speed setting. The green cruise control light should be on if the cruise is engaged.

Warning: Make sure you have room to practice. I turned cruise on and was testing it and then it dawned on me, how to turn it off? BRAKE. With the e-hydro I hardly ever use the brakes, so be warned.

I'm still trying to figure out the Max button and how it could be set. Maybe someone can volunteer how they use it or how they find it useful.
