Kude

thanks for the help...i think it was a combination of my brake pedal hanging and not being completely sure if I had the switches correctly engaged...

seems I now have the hang of it...

Thanks!

Super Dave,if the brake pedal is only slightly depressed or stuck slightly on it will throw an error code #05. Then you shut the tractor off and push down on the brake pedal and pull up. Restart the tractor and the code should be clear and the cruise will now work.

Guys, the proper operation of the cruise fucntion is all covered in the operators manual. It's just amazes me the info that's in that dang thing!
Read it you will definately find out something you didn't know about your tractor!

Sincerely,
Dirt

Dirt,

I've downloaded the manual and refer to it a lot, however, the MAX settings, I get the gist of setting them, but to what end, maybe trial and error is the only way to find out the best use for it.

kude, one possible use for the max setting would be to keep the transmission from up shifting when you push the travel pedal to that point. Some task I do I don't want it to shift. Sort of use it as a transmission hold button.

Sincerely,
Dirt

From the owners manual and use, it is the maximum speed of travel. Before and after setting note the mph of your machine. When engaged it will only reach that preset speed. If you forget you set it after about an hour you'll ask yourself why your moving so slow. Personally I haven't found much use for it. Maybe someone else has found it helpful.

I am a firm believer in reading your owners manual...people by a $200 DVD player and read it...but don't read the manual on a $40K car or tractor...I however could not seem to get the darn cruise working for me after about a week...I read and re-read the instructions to no avail...

What I believe is that my brake pedal was hanging slightly and not allowing it to come on...thereby confusing me and causing me to try serveral other combinations with the swtiches assuming I was doing something wrong.

With the info here...I confirmed that I was right and then tried pulling up on the brake pedals while I set the cruise correctly...Glory be it worked!

forums like this are really vaulable...

Thanks guys.

Oh I get it, MAX sets a top speed for something like mowing using the foot pedal, useful for when my nephew wants to mow the grass. I have an open space that I could use it on, but I tend to just use the foot pedal anyway. I have the manual foot pedal lock on the 755 and hardly used that.

The Cruise/MAX switches would have been useful when I was moving mulch (at least a 100 buckets) from the back field to the house. If I would have been able to keep a constant speed, I could have avoided bouncing around excessively in certain spots.
