Hi, All,

Sometime ago, I read a post about someone who owned a
HST and bought an e-Hydro model. He mentioned he had
trouble getting use to the difference between the HST and
the e-Hydro.

Someone mentioned that he liked the "long 9" setting on the
e-Hydro; he felt it was the most natural setting.

I did a search for "long 9" and got a zillion-1 hits. Okay, I'm
lazy and only read 2-3.

I moved from a 4115 HST to the 3520 e-Hydro. The first thing
I noticed that the ability to inch forward/backwards was gone.
That light touch of the pedal resulted in no movement; movement
of a few inches; or way too much movement.

I really miss that ability to deftly move the tractor when in really
tight quarters - like backing up to the tiller in the garage with
the car, shelves, etc. close-by.

I don't get the time to experiment as the tractor is at home
in Indiana and I'm outside DC - job related. So, when I get home,
I have a pile of work to get done in a day or two before heading
back.

Okay - how does one set the e-Hydro to a "long 9"? If possible, I
am looking to get that ability to literally inch and sub-inch forward
or backward. I'm trying to avoid getting that call that goes something
like: "Hi, Dear. I was backing the tractor up to the tiller...and when
you come home, can you bring some drywall compound?" - 'cause
the tiller was pushed into the wall! And heaven forbid I'd be the
one who was driving!

Thanks alot! The posts on this forum are immensely helpful!
Can't wait to redo the work lights and add the 12V outlet - for the
heating pad (Thanks to Buckey!) - I can feel that BIGGGG snow
coming soon! Just hope I'm home when it happens!

Ah so! Looking at the online manual under MotionMatch.
The little light just came on inside my brain. I should print
the instructions as I'm certain to forget by the time I get home -
Back Home Again, In Indiana.

Long 9 makes sense to me; hopefully, this will produce the
nice, linear speed to pedal match I knew with the HST.

Any suggestions are most welcome. Never too old to learn.

I use the "medium 7"- the default 5 just stopped too short for me- great for loader work, but a pain mowing my bumpy pastures. It's easy enough to change around and see what works.

I would think that you would want to set it on short_1 to give you the shortest stopping distance.A setting of long_9 would permit the tractor to move a greater distance after you let up on the travel pedel, but you will just have to see what works for you personally.

I had the same problem when I first got my 3520 after a HST. However you get used to it very quickly and you can "inch" up to the "tiller" without thinking about it after a few hours on the machine. Now I would not want to go back. I think mine is set at Long 7. Even the defaut 5 is a pretty abrupt stop.

But there will still be a lag when you step on the pedal.
