3520 JD new hood design

Wondering about the new hood design on the 3520 series tractor if the new curve design is better when it exposes so much of the engine to dust, foreign objects ext. My 4110 covers all of the engine. I know for maintenance a person can get to a lot more of the engine for visual inspections and the such. Other than that this tractor seems to be a honey. I am waiting for the 3520 to roll onto the lot so I can get a test drive.

I think the same basic look is on all the new Deeres, isn't it? The lights look like they'll make better working lights than the old ones.

You have to wonder if this new look is a response to the NH look. It's not as extreme, but still looks pretty curvy.

I was wondering about that too.. especially road salt... I feel like I'm going to have to hose the exposed areas often... we'll see.

The one piece hood on the 3520 looks to be much better than the hood on my JD 4400 which has the side pieces and the radiator grill that individually lifts out. The bottom of my side covers that have catches( for lack of better terms) do not always stay in place. It looks like the 3520 hood is a more simplistic/trouble free design.

No concerns about the new hood design. I have had both and find the newer design better. Be sure with any front end loader that you get the hood guard, but even the older style needed that. You will not be disappointed in the new hood style at all. I think it looks better too. The engine is cradled in the tractor frame, so it is safe, and most dirt,etc. gets taken in through the intake anyway. The front area is larger for improved cooling, and I suspect the more open sides will dissipate heat better.

thanks guys. when I 1st saw the new design I thought it looked great, kind of like a sharke moving thourgh a sea of grass. lean and mean. but as always I over think things. This helps.
