you are correct kenny. notice the spring that was not on my previous tractor. jd is using the cylinder to only raise the deck and apparently the spring and the weight of the deck to lower it. probably has something to do with the auto connect where the deck has to be fully down for the hookup. might also be a cheaper way to build it only using one hyd. line. i"ll have to check to see if the orifice is actually installed. my deck also seems to settle down on its own everytime i look at it. thanks guys, bud

hi again, as a followup to my previous post, i went out to the garage and checked the tractor. started it up and raised the deck and turned off the motor and relieved hyd. pressure. lowered the deck and it still slammed down not from it own weight but being pulled down by the spring. i also took the fitting loose from the hyd. line and it does have the orifice installed. might be something we are going to have to live with. i don't know if the orifices come with smaller size openings? oh well. thanks for your interest, bud

You can make a new restrictor easy enough if you have the tools...

thanks kenny. the orifice hole in the one that is in there is supposed to be .052". called dealer parts and he said jd offers only one other with a hole that is about .010" smaller. i told him to order one to see if that will slow it down. how do you make one? sincerely, bud

It just looks like a washer correct? And is sandwiched between to fittings? Find some stock of similar thickness, cut/grind to shape (round) and drill a tiny hole in it.

I have the 60D autoconnect deck on my 3520 and experience very much the same problem. The cylinder is single action and when you operate the controls, it tends to go up, down, up etc. rapidly until you release the lever. Not very satisfactory.

kenny, if you pull up the part # N275799 on jdparts and scan down it shows a diagram. it looks like it has a groove in one side for an o-ring. i'll let you know how i make out with the new one when i get it from jd. talk to you soon.....bud

Can't wait to hear if the new orifice works... I have the same problem with my 72D on my 3520. So far I've just been very slow with the moving the lever to control the speed.
