I hope I'm calling this by the correct name - a winter break. Years ago we had a canvas and plastic cover that went up around the engine of our tractor and back to the driver seat. It had a windshield and not only kept the operator out of the winter wind, but also directed some of the engine heat back to the operator. That was on a AC WD 45 and was more than 20 years ago.

The past few weeks have been really cold with lots of snow and I'm hoping someone can direct me to something that is available for the JD 3520 so I can be a little more comfortable when I'm working outside. I know, someone is going to say I should have added the complete cab when I purchased the tractor, but my pockets aren't that deep.

I'm looking for the name of a product, approximate price, and a dealer where I can purchase one.

Thanks in advance

I know what you are talking about... It's called a WEATHER BREAK. Do a search for Weather Break Tractor enclosure.. that should pop up some results. I really don't know how effective they are. They might take a few degrees off the chill.

In my part of the world....they always were called Heat Houser's. If you google "heat houser".....Burch Mfg will be at the top of the list. I'm sure their are other brands too.

Drove a few tractors with them.....work pretty good.

Thanks orangeJbird.

It looks like the canvas is discontinued, but the rest may still be available.

We have a John Day Co. here in western Illinois (Milan), I'll be happy to give them a call.

Look up the web site for Sloan Express and search for "Weather Break". Looks like the heat houser used before the year around cab came along. They have them to fit the Deere 3x20 series. Sloans has stores all over central Illinois and will do mail order. I don't have one my self but have been tempted after the last couple of days if you know what I mean.

I do not have one of these weather breaks but agree you should call Sloans http://shopsmart.networkwcs.com/customers/sloanex/main.cgi for info. They are my dealer and I would recommend them.

Hey Dan how do you like this wonderful (not) weather and ice  we have been experiencing.

I am up at Warrensburg but my brother in law has 40a in the Becks Creek area close to the green house. We run cattle and bale off his place. 2 degrees, 1" of ice and 40 mph wind is not my idea of fun. Sure eats the propane... We may have met.

Only $329.00 at Sloans. Good deal.

Whatever they are called they do work.

Chances are you could rig one up using some tarps and bungee cords. It may not look nice but the comfort/cost should make up for looks!:D
