Before we got married in 65, We saved our 25 % down payment and bought a new furnished mobile home 10 X 47 ($3100 delivered and setup) Payments were $40.22/Month for 7 Yr and we paid it off in 5 and then started saving for the first farm that we still live on today. I can remember being on a $15 per week grocery budget allowance during the sixties and early seventies. Ken Sweet

I married my high school sweetheart. I wish every man had a wife as good as mine.

Here's how carefree we were then. We left the church heading to Chattanooga for our honeymoon. We were in a Volkswagen beetle that you had to push off to start! We had to be very careful where we parked. I remember we went to Ruby Falls and they directed me to the lower parking area. When I got down there I told the attendant I had to park on the hill somewhere. It never failed to start once you gave it a shove.

That's how different the world was in 1974. We both came from a home with loving parents but, looking back, how in the world did our parents let us do that? There is no way I'd let either one of my children leave going on any trip in a vehicle like that.

Quite ironic!!! I was also married that day in 1974............... Still am..... That is quite a coincidence. My son just turned 36 on June 3rd. Happy anniversary to yous both....It seems I have been married so long I can't remember when I wasn't..

I appreciate all the congrats and hope all enjoy the same happiness i have in my marriage. I think one thing that has helped us is taking the advice of an old preacher.

He told us, "If you want to keep your marriage young and alive, don't stop dating just because you're married. Go out and have fun together just like you did before you married."

I've failed many times but we tried to heed that advice and it seems to work. I share it with every couple that I attend their wedding now.

Congratulations, Uncle Wayne!

I never owned an air-cooled VW except to turn around and sell it, but I had my '72 Blazer when I finally got married in 1975. (Her mother said not to.... but she got over that.:D)

That ol' Chevy never failed to start in the 30 years I had it...except maybe once, I think. All the way from -32 in Bethlehem, NH to +125 in Death Valley.

Next month it'll be 36 for us; daughter's b-day was yesterday, born in 1976. Here's to many more years!
