When i installed mine, the manual said that if you cannot adjust the hose from in-between the bracket and the axle, then install the elbow fitting. Mine seems okay and so I let it stay stock, but if I see ot start to get too close, I will change it out.

JD shop mechanic came over to my house yesterday and installed the elbow and replaced the hydraulic steering hose. The new hose has an elbow fitting like the old one but it is shorter which makes it less problematic. I'm glad the hose was replaced because the old one was worn nearly thru the steel braiding and would've failed anytime. Warranty covered all so no charge.

You might occasionally call the dealers in NH and they might present you with some very good deals and no tax.

Its what I plan on doing next time I got something major yet not pressing.... My local dealer is pretty much spot on with pricing from "aftermarket" sources...Filters, Oils, Grease, and any other "Generic" part is priced competively...heck I'm thinking about switching my truck over to the JD 0w40 Syn because I can get it cheaper then Mobil 1...its all the "Specialty" stuff they really get you on..and what do you know, whenever its specialty, its usually because I broke it and need it yesterday...
What kills me is they are an EXCELLENT Dealership...I wouldnt have a second thought sending my own grandmother there for anything....

Good for you. I am glad it was resolved.

Hey Sunny I did not read this entire thread but today well doing tractor loader work there were times that my power steering felt like it stopped working completly even with an empty bucket and not in 4 wheel drive. I will check the fluid in the morning also can a rubbing line cause this maybe?

DP, I never experienced loss of power steering on my 3720. My problem had to do with the ps line rubbing near the cylinder and causing damage to the hose.

I did experience steering trouble like you on my 4320 when doing heavy loader work. I believe the hydraulic relief valve in the power steering circuit was tripping due to too much front end load when there was no ballast on the rear. I haven't experienced the problem since using the ballast box when doing FEL work.

First thing I'd do is check the hydraulic fluid as you already stated. Next, I'd check the power steering fittings for tightness, especially down at the cylinder.

Ok this makes sense I was doing some loader work but I had the 72 inch rotary cutter on the rear. There were hills of debris and cement I was moving to make the area easier to cut in the future. After dropping a load in my pile the steering felt like it was resisting I had to fight the wheel to get it to turn, really worried me that something got damaged or failed but now it seems fine again!
