3725H or 4225H

The more research I do and reading posts here, I really am leaning hard towards either the 3725H or 4225H. I'm in central Indiana with only two dealers in the state, one an hour away and the other two hours away. I have always read that you should buy as much tractor as you can afford. Curious what pricing others have seen or gotten for either of these with FEL? Only pricing I can find is the tractor packages found on tractorhouse.com. Thanks

I was surfing Branson one day and there was a dealer in Indiana that popped up and seemed to be a big time operator, like had several dealerships. You can probably go to the Branson www and select "Dealer Locater" and get your best answer for prices in your area. If that doesn't work just go a google search for something like Branson Dealers in Indiana.

I use my 3725 for mowing with a 5' rotary, grapple work on brush, loader, box blade etc. And running a Woodmaxx 8H pto chipper. The 3725 has plenty of power for everything except the chipper. With the chipper it's enough power for brush but for larger material 5"+ I have to turn the feed rate way down low. A lot of people don't chip wood that large but we have a lot of very productive trees. When I'm chipping big stuff I wish I had 50hp.

I know where the dealers are, just looking to see what others have paid for these units in the Midwest.

Those are mainly the same jobs I’m looking at other than the wood chipper, though may be using for round bales.

The only difference between those 2 models is the hp. That's it. Everything else is the same. It's even the same engine, they make the hp change in the fuel side of it. Are you going to be haying and making round bales, or just moving them? I have no problem picking up, stacking and moving large rounds with my 3725. If I was running a bailer, I'd need more hp, unless it was a small bailer.

If I ran a chipper like Eric, I'd want more hp too. I run a 6' brush hog now with no issues, and planning on getting a 7' blower and a 7' tiller. Not anticipating any hp issues with those attachments.

Just moving round bales. Any thoughts on if it worth it to go to the 25 series instead on the 20?

I've not sat on or used a 20 series, so I'm afraid I can't really give you a direct comparison. I was shopping for a cabbed tractor for myself, and the 25 series comes with heat and A/C, where the 20 series only had heat. I think there were a few other (mostly) minor changes between the 2 series.

As long as you're comparing apples to apples, I'd say go with the one that gives you most bang for the buck. I think the FEL control is in a different location, as is the cruise control and possibly pto switch. Not positive, as I've not sat on one. Make sure the rear remotes are there (I've not seen a 25 series without 2 rear remotes, but perhaps they exist). The non-cabbed 25 series has the diff lock pedal on the right side, instead of on the left side like the cabbed version. No idea why they do this, but it would make it awkward to use on the right side. Don't know if the 20 series is the same or not.

Looking at the specs on both from the Branson website, there's not a ton of difference between them. The 25 series has slightly less engine displacement (comparing the 3520-3725), but makes slightly more hp. More efficient engine? Also the pto output loses 1 hp less on the 25. Tractor weight is 100 lbs different, so not much there. About the only thing I can see is the hydraulic pump rating is better on the 25 series, but again differences are not huge. The 25 series cab is supposed to be bigger and roomier than the 20 series, but you're not looking for a cabbed unit.

I would say it would come down to controls locations and $.

I just took a quick look at the 25 and 20 series the only thing that got my attention was the 2 different loaders offer on the 20's, one had less reach but considerable differences in capacities at lift. For carrying round bales I would like more capacity.

Something folks never mention in answering that question is: Does it matter how high your 3 pt is above the ground? My 2400 can't pickup a lot of things that can be picked up with the other tractors....reason being the diameter of the tires and size of rear end is too close to the ground. If transporting round bales this can be an issue as is weight of the front end to counter the 3 pt load. Course with FELs it's easier since you can fill the bucket with dirt/sand/gravel/rocks to counter balance the 3 pt load.
