3cyl Diesel Not 'Warming Up'

seems as if all cylinders aren't firing. perhaps a bad injector?

Have you thought about removing the valve cover to see what's going on underneath? could be something under there . I remember seeing a video of someone adjusting the valves on a kodie . and remember him saying something about how tight to tighten the value cover. but can't remember why ? definitely get that oil changed. that diesel in the oil will wipe the bearings out. if you run it to much.

There is a decompression rod that runs right under the top of the valve cover. I am fairly sure that was the misfire. I do know if you over torque the valve cover it will crack. I gave a old one I had to another member because he cracked his. I also think it will clear up after the oil change and the exhaust clears. There is probably a lot of raw fuel in the muffler from the misfire.

Let's start with the basics as I didn't see these posted yet.

When did this start happening?
After the last fill of Diesel? Bad fuel? Did you check the fuel filter? The water Separator?
What is the ambient temperature outside? Are the glow plugs working properly?

Hi all,

You all helped myself and my neighbor diagnose a problem with his Kioti LB1914 several months ago.

Another problem came up with the machine, I have a video of the issue.

He said it started to take a while for the engine to warm up, clear out the smoke and have any throttle response, and eventually, just stopped warming up at all.

I went over there and helped him swap a lift pump, and I discovered the oil was filling up with diesel. That fixed that issue, but still having the warm up issue.

Injectors are $250-300/ea and an injection pump is $1300, so I'm hoping to narrow down the issue.

What do y'all think?

I appreciate any help. Thank you.
In the video it sounds to me like it is only running on 1 cylinder. Another thing to check would be valve adjustment under the valve cover. If it can not breathe properly, it can not run properly.

Just my $.02 worth.

I didn't read through all the comments, but did anyone mention a clogged air filter?

Sounds like the fuel isn't increasing when the throttle is increased. Shouldn't have nothing to do with temperature. Mine will rev up as soon as throttle is increased no matter how cold. Might be something blocking the fuel from getting to pump or injectors. You need air, fuel, and compression for a diesel engine to run.

By slacking and tightening that valve cover nut, the engine should not alter like it does. Something under that cover is not as it should be, I would take the cover off and have a look. Check the valve gap settings, I would not be suprised if one or more has come completly loose, and could be touching the cover.

to start with I would crack open 1 injector at a time while it is idling. the cylinder that does not die down very much or not at all will be the problem cylinder. then remove that injector and have it tested and rebuilt if it has doesn't pass the testing. and on the cold running issue I agree with dstig1 on the thermostat stuck open. run the engine and keep your hand on the top radiator hose close to the engine, if the hose starts to get warm to the touch quickly then the stat is in open position and you need a thermostat and gasket.most diesel injectors are not bad to take apart and check to see if their plugged with dirt then cleaned.
